lionsandtigers
Here's a pic of the 5513 all together. Gen Dial Gen 1560 Movement Gen Crown/tube (gen stem) Gen Crystal MBW Polex 5513 case from a few years ago Aftermarket Hands and insert So she looks great, and she's ticking, but she's not changing time. Seconds hand goes around and around and around and the hour and minutes stay in the exact same place. Either I did something wrong or these are not the right hands for the 1560, although they should be. Thoughts? Should I send it off to one of the members here to be put together properly, and if so, who's doing that now?
sneed12
Cannon pinion needs to be re-crimped would be my guess. (EDITED TO ADD: that'd be my guess for an ETA movement, btw--I think the Rolex movements are also direct drive so it should be a valid guess still, but I'm no expert)
lionsandtigers
no idea, but it seems that the hands are not sitting properly, well, they def are not. Gonna need someone with experience in these movements to take a look
sneed12
If the hands are not the proper size, they'd be flopping around, not simply not turning.
JoeyB
Can you set the hands to the correct time, and then they won't move? If the hands were too loose on the pinion they might move when being set, but still noticeably 'slip' some. My guess is that your movement needs service, or more. freddy333
As sneed12 said, if the hands were the problem, they would be flopping around the dial every time you moved the watch or just pointing south all the time. I would guess you have a wheel installed upside-down or otherwise incorrectly so motion is not being transmitted to the hour/minute hands.
lionsandtigers
I can set the time properly, so I dont think anything is in the wrong place. The seconds hand moves, it just does not move the minute and hour with it.

lionsandtigers
seems like the seconds hand, but its moving, just not moving the time with them, but they can set. sounds annoying doesnt it?
omgiv
If you can set the time with the crown but the hands don't move over time, then your cannon pinion is loose of the center wheel. It is eithet not seated properly or it simply needs to be tightened.

Score, that was my first guess Cannon pinion needs to be re-crimped would be my guess. any idea how i would do that or should i leave it to someone who knows what theyre doing Well swapping it out is a simple matter of removing the dial and hands, swapping the part, and reassembling. But since it's a Rolex part I bet spares are hard to find. Re-crimping should definitely be left to an expert.
omgiv
You would need to take the dial and hands off to first check. See if the minute wheel is meshing with the cannon pinion. If not. that is your problem. If it is meshing with the minute wheel, it will need to be tightened. If you have access to a staking set and know how to use it, you can do it. omgiv
How comfortable are you with removing the dial and hands? If you feel comfortable doing so, take a picture of the cannon pinion from the side. That way we can see if it is meshing or if there is something else amiss. lionsandtigers
Thanks Z, she turned out real nice looking, especially on the camo nato, but I gotta figure out what the hell's up with the movement, which is still ticking by the way, although the time hasnt change from 6 in about 6 hours
bruce79
Sounds like it will be something quite obvious to a watchmaker. Take it to someone rather than doing it yourself...sounds like that's what you're going to do anyhow. Good luck and try to source some gen hands to complete your beautiful watch. lionsandtigers
good news is i found a watchmaker here in the city to service and overhaul the movement, even though its in a rep case, for a very good price as well as put a set of proper hands on and I'll have it back in a week. this guy may be inclined to work on reps, so anyone who's interested I will pass on the info, the rest is up to you
