CAPTAIN22 Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 I was just given a PAN28A. It is a gift from my father. He has had it since new, probably 20 years ago. He rarely wore it, but it does look slightly worn. I have the box (without the padding) and the books. It is all original and works. Any estimates on the value? I am looking to sell it.
w0lf Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 Post photos, so we can judge the condition and authenticity.
denisegold Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 (edited) I'll give you $50.....joking Edited May 2, 2013 by denisegold
amanamongmen Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 if his father had it for 20 years its legit. . especially how horrible reps were even 5 years ago. But i am sure everyone would love to see pictures of it. ofcourse it could be a scam...
projectologist Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 (edited) If he thinks it's gen, seems like his first post would be at a gen forum if he wanted to know it's current value. 28A = 1998, 15 years ago. Edited May 2, 2013 by projectologist
bwhitesox Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 First post seems very much like a backdoor sales attempt to me, $10 says we never see any photos.
Watchmeister Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 Assuming it is legit look on Risti to see where people are pricing them. They come up for sale fairly often.
projectologist Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 (edited) The new poster hasn't logged on since yesterday when he made the post. You would think he would have been back by now to see if he got any responses. Just sayin' Edited May 2, 2013 by projectologist
paneristi Posted May 4, 2013 Report Posted May 4, 2013 (edited) if it is indeed a gen I would guess around Euro 6-8K depending on condition :worthless: Edited May 4, 2013 by paneristi
dluddy Posted May 4, 2013 Report Posted May 4, 2013 Let me get this straight. Your dad just gave you one of the holy grail PAM automatics and you want to sell it??
CAPTAIN22 Posted May 5, 2013 Author Report Posted May 5, 2013 (edited) It is the real deal, he bought in St Barths actually 14-15 years ago. I am turning 40 and he is giving it to me as a gift. I havent checked this site since my original post because I was waiting for him to send me pics as I dont have it in my hands yet. He is bringing it to me next wekend. He bought it for around $2500 back then, but I know it is worth considerablly more now. He has the box and books, however the box is missing the pillow inside. He almost never wore it because it hit his wrist in a weird spot and he found it uncomforatable. I don't think I want to keep it, it is just not my style and he is fine with that. The reason I chose this site - it showed up first on my Google search. Is there a bigger/better one I should be looking at? Edited May 5, 2013 by CAPTAIN22 1
dluddy Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 Yes, you should list it on paneristi.com Good luck
projectologist Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 (edited) Current prices for a 28a are hovering around $15-18k depending on condition. It will sell at paneristi.com in less than 24 hrs. with good pics and references or face to face deal. Edited May 6, 2013 by projectologist
grew Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 Do you really need the money? It will do a really good job indexing inflation over the years. I'd just lock it up in a Safe Deposit box and check back in 25 years and sell it for my retirement.
CAPTAIN22 Posted May 20, 2013 Author Report Posted May 20, 2013 Finally took a pic. I also have the original box and book. However the box was stripped of its insides, so it is just a wood box.
StormTooper4 Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Keep it safe for another 10 years or so and it should appreciate nicely. Its a great watch
w0lf Posted May 21, 2013 Report Posted May 21, 2013 Congratulations on a very nice genuine PAM00028 'A'. Keept it locked up, it's an awesome piece.
