JVD
Hello, I've bought one of these and before arriving I'm thinking about modding it. I'd like to know if there are some reasonable MODS to make this watch better. I'm going to buy a croco strap. What about datewheel? AR? Lume? Let me know Thanks

milesd
Hello, I've bought one of these and before arriving I'm thinking about modding it. I'd like to know if there are some reasonable MODS to make this watch better. I'm going to buy a croco strap. What about datewheel? AR? Lume? Let me know Thanks there is nothing you need to mod on this watch. The AR is perfect compared to the gen. People redo the AR on IWC reps all the time and it's not needed as the rep AR is pretty much spot on compared to the gen. Aftermarket AR always removes the blue tint that the gen has. Datewheel is great as it's not your typical ETA datewheel. I wouldn't touch it. Lume is the only area that might need some work but it's hard to tell if it's possible. The gen looks to have the lume painted directly on the dial whereas the rep has a lume marker that's applied to the dial. I know The Zigmeister years ago used to offer the removal of the markers on the 3717 and then lume directly onto the dial. I think he stopped as they changed the glue they used which made the likely hood of damaging the dial much greater. However with such a small difference, I didn't bother. Just replace the strap if you want and wear the watch.
seafoam
If you have the choice, always go for the genuine alligator strap. Makes a huge difference IMO.
scropper
I'm thinking of a kevlar strap as I find the watch/dial a bit casual - but still unsure of size!
