Hi guys

Huge fan of the oyster quartz here to the point where I am lucky enough to own one of JMB's scratch builds but when the bay offered up a nice clean 17000 case a few weeks ago I had to make it mine.

Now the problem, the last time I attempted a build I practically destroyed the world along with a number of very useful movements and as I can not find a data sheet for the 17000 I am probably in even more trouble.

I would welcome anyone input in terms of which tube, crystal and bezel parts numbers would be appropriate and then more importantly an easy way source and install  a datejust dialed movement in!

If anyone, preferably UK based, could sell me a dialed movement that I can just slot in I am more than happy to pay a sensible price.

Any help, comments welcome, thanks guys!

One of my little reference sheets says 24-600 crown and 24-6000 tube.

It takes a 25-295C crystal.

Back gasket is listed as a 317-8.

My R20 from 2003 has this listed:

Crown: 24-600-0

Tube: 24-6020

Crystal: 25-295-C1

Crystal Gasket: 29-295-1

Caseback Gasket: 29-317-8

Where in the world will you ever find the bracelet?

My first Rolex was an Oysterquartz from around 1980 and I do miss it. I had a chance to buy one about 4 years ago for $1300 in a local pawn shop and still kick myself for not getting it.

Thanks guys, I have managed to acertain the tube is 24-6020 and the crown is 24-600 and the crystal is 25-295c. Thanks Alligoat and omgiv, your information is much appreciated!

I am intending to put it on leather initially then keep an eye on the bay for a bracelet. I too had a 17000 about 10 years ago and let it go in a trade but have always loved the shape...it has an air of Gerald Gentas 70's models such as the AP RO and the IWC ingenieur.

I am in two mind on whether to put an automatic or quartz movement in.

Anyway thanks again guy for your help!

Ok so the weekend passes and I have managed to ruin a datejust doner I had lying around!

Can anyone suggest a member or 'supplier' who can create this frankedn for me, obviously willing to pay sensible price.

Many thanks!
