Erict719 Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 I seen grade 0 is the finest . is steel wool more fine and better then the green spongepad
flyr Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 It entirely depends on what finish you are trying to match, you may have to try several grades to get the right one.
kbh Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 Here's what I use. I found it recommended on one of the gen forums and it seems to be very close. I bought both fine and extra fine at Home Depot. Cheap!
ceejay Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 I use a abrasive cloth called micromesh, you can pick up a selection pack on ebay that has grits from 1500 through to 12000. Brilliant stuff that can be used with water or oil. Lasts ages.
fidhle007 Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 I use a 3M sanding sponge in extra fine. Work in one direction along the length of the bracelet for a KILLER finish!
Jkay Posted June 21, 2013 Report Posted June 21, 2013 3M refinishing pads are what most people use, I think. That's what they are for, right?
Erict719 Posted June 21, 2013 Author Report Posted June 21, 2013 I found one thing that is very bothering is that. doesn't matter how good I brush it. After a wash or two with hand soap, the brush seems to be lighten and keep getti g shinier ... Am I not suppose to use soap at all to wash?
Jkay Posted June 21, 2013 Report Posted June 21, 2013 Soap and water cleans off the sweat and oil deposited by your skin. This makes the metal brighter.
Erict719 Posted June 21, 2013 Author Report Posted June 21, 2013 but then the brushed surface get thinner too. And not as tight brushed. Thicker hairline. If u know way I mean
correctime Posted June 21, 2013 Report Posted June 21, 2013 Try hitting it lightly with Cape Cod afterwards. But don't rub too hard or it'll have your brushed finish looking polished.
Vinguru Posted June 21, 2013 Report Posted June 21, 2013 I use the 3m refinishing pad which I buy from Wiz. He also has a tutorial on YouTube on how to brush
