Hi,

 

I just came across a gen 16200 case with diamonds from -93 that im planning to do some work on.

I am a newbie on building watches so I'm asking some questions here and hope for some help from you guys

 

If I'm informed correctly a cal.3135 is easily replaced with a ETA 2824-2 including some movement ring (stilty version)?

Except those two ingredients I need a gen dial and markers, do you guys know exactly what kind of dial (mm) i need to look for? I'm guessing ebay is a good source?

 

Do I need any special tools or something out of the ordinary to get this watch up and running? Is it a pain in the a** to get everything in place and should i just abandon the project?

 

As you might have understood by now I know nothing about these kinda things but it seems like a fun project and I hope you can help!

Nothing out of the ordinary.  You can just pick most any dial that you like.  The only caveat is that a "Pie Pan" dial would not be proper.  The datejust franken is one of the most simple of watches to get up and running.  PM stilty about the ring...or you can buy one from raffestime.com.  Just email them from the website and ask which ring you need.

 

The 2836-2 movement is a better choice for the 16200 case.  The stem height should like up just right.  The 2824 would be a little high.

That actually looks harder than I first thought

Not knowing all the english words probably makes it even harder

Good Luck with your project! ~ It's beyond my scope. But I do like looking at pictures of worked time pieces

Don't know that the Stilty rings are still available. I reached out a couple of times and never got a response. I used the raffles-time #2 ring for mine. You'll just have to mill a bit for the case clamps. Make sure you get the right one for your movement.

For the 16200 case, I think the 2824-2 will work the best- I don't agree with preacher62 on this. But that's not to say the 2836-2 can't be made to work.

My experience is the 2824-2 closely approximates the 3135 stem position and the 2836-2 equals the 3035 stem position.
