forrestal Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 Unfortunately, this morning my 6538 has fallen and the stem of the crown is broken! can someone tell me what stem I get for a NDT Rolex 8 mm. crown ? my 6538 has a Rolex 1030 mov. There are two stem for 1030 mov. 0.90mm thread stem (part 6946) and 1.10mm thread stem (part 6947). Which one is for my 8 mm. crown?

automatico Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 I have owned a few genuine 8mm crowns in the past and they were tap 10 (.9mm).Now have one high quality replica 8mm crown and it is also tap 10.All my genuine 1030/35 rolex stems are tap 10..9mm = tap 101.0mm = tap 91.1mm = tap 8Modern Eta 2824/36/2892 stems are all tap 10 so if you have an Eta stem, compare it with the threads on the broken stem.
cc33 Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 I have 3 genuine crowns and they all take 1.1 mm stem, the reps that I've had take .9 anyhow I have both sizes, Forrestal, if you want I can send you one of each so you'll be sure to get the right size.

Many thanks, but I have already ordered a 0.90 stem and a new 8 mm. Minh. crown. My old NDT crown is now unusable because the stem is broken within....Thanks to all for your prompt replies.....
1680 Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 Did the stem break flush with the threaded tube? Or is there a little bit left outside of it. Eventhough you ordered a new you could try to boil the crown for 10 minutes in water, I read that this helps sometimes to get it out.
Nanuq Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 Close, but not quite. Boil it in water with ALUM added. That breaks down the soft steel of the stem and it will pretty much crumble apart.
