Ben_Stark
Please help me help my dad. He has had his Rolex Sub 1680 since 1974 and just last week he lost the bezel, ring, and spring. I am trying to help him find the parts to fix it new/used genuine Rolex parts. Any help is greatly appreciated.
freddy333
The 1680, 5513 & 5512 all share the same bezel components & Rolex still has them. So the easiest option is to take the watch to your nearest Rolex service center or Authorized Dealer & have them replace them (they will probably recommend an overhaul if it has been several years since the last 1). Search the for sale section or post a WantToBuy on VRF or TZ. Alternatively, search ebay. Although you can probably find some to fit, unless your father is financially destitute, I would not install aftermarket bezel parts on a gen watch.
panerai153
+1 to Freddy's suggestion. If it's been a few years since the last service, it could probably use a movement service. Where are you located? That might determine where you can get it repaired. Their are several very good Rolex watch smiths around, they could easily do that as well as a service. The only problem with a RSC, is they tend to want to do too much. If his watch us well aged, they will suggest a new crown/tube, crystal and gaskets, possibly even a luminova service dial and hands. Big bill for all that, and he might not want the watch to look like brand new.
alligoat
Kind of like being caught between a rock and a hard spot.Your best bet is the get the Rolex bezel, insert and spring at an AD or an RSC. But they'll probably want $500, give or take, to service it.An independent watchmaker with a Rolex parts account could get you the parts and maybe only charge you $200-300 for a service. Maybe he'd get you the parts and let you getaway w/o a service. But if the watch hasn't been serviced in 10 years, it's long overdue!
DC109
Whatever you do, don't let the dial be replaced. It will tank the value of the watch. I'd rather have an aftermarket bezel and the original dial than all genuine Rolex, but with a service dial.
