Vietnam era manual wind?

Hi gents.

 

A friend of mine queried me about a vintage Omega military issue watch that would have been a manual wind and available to the South Vietnamese Army forces.  He said his father in law ( a South Vietnamese soldier) had one during the war and was looking to find another.

 

Any thoughts on which model this may be?

cj, wish I could remember where saw vintage military from Vietnam era for sale but worn by US forces ,most likely same as USA supplied most everything.

I guess that makes it a "FAKE" I apologize to the OP and hope he is not bidding thinking it is a real Omega!

Saw one long ago similar case design/look ,could have been Benrus.

I think DR makes one will check it out.

Benrus Type II Military Watch Homage

Supplied to Navy Seals and Special Forces during Vietnam Era
Seagull ST2130 - 26 Jewel Automatic Movement
(Exact Same Specs as ETA 2824-2 )

 

 

The Benrus Type II is one of just a very few dive watches issued during the Vietnam War to Navy Seals, UDT divers and Special Forces Personnel.  They were produced from 1969 up to around 1978.  Our watch is a near perfect tribute to that classic timepiece.  Has the rare "CIA" case back - only a single serial number.  Said to have been used in clandestine operations.  Like the original watch, a distinguishing feature is its front-loading, asymmetrical case with solid, non-removable lug bars for strap attachment.  A black NATO strap and extra crystal are included with the watch.  Here are the Specs on this rare tribute.  

Case Diameter - 43mm
Case Height - 16mm to top of domed crystal
Case length (lug to lug) - 47.5mm
Lug Width - 20mm - Lugs are fixed, non removable, Strap Included
Crystal - High Domed Acrylic like the original, extra crystal included
Movement - Seagull ST2130 Automatic (Clone of ETA2824-2) Very reliable movement
Case Material - Stainless Steel with bead blasted finish
Crown - Screw Down on two piece stem like original
Bezel - Bi-Directional, friction, no index
WR - Tested at 3ATM
Lumed Dial and hand lumed Bezel Insert
