Akira
Just a quick photo comparison on the 7mm Rolex Submariner crowns... The purpose of this thread is not to explain their history or usage. You can read all that somewhere else. I just happen to see many vintage Rolex builds advertised with genuine crowns, but many folks don't really know what distinguishes them from collectible to periodically inaccurate. So, I hope this helps our members to tell the variations apart from each other and help them check if they are correct for their model. dbane883
That's great. Would you say this is a 702 then:?
Akira
Your pics are really, really small...but I'd have said 702. Do the threads inside the crown go all the way up? --> 702 Or are they just at the bottom? --> 703 That's great. Would you say this is a 702 then:? dbane883
Well that's the problem. I don't have in front of me. The seller does not know what it is. If its a 702, it would be a steal. But if its a 703, its useless to me.
Akira
Well, I hope the seller has it in his hands...so it'd be easy for him to take a snap of the inside or just check whether or not the threads go all the way up. From those small pics, it's almost impossible to tell... Well that's the problem. I don't have in front of me. The seller does not know what it is. If its a 702, it would be a steal. alligoat
Don't forget that there are two styles of 703 crowns- you've got the old style tall crown pictured- it looks the same as the 702 crown. The new style short crown is just like the 704 crown. The new style short 703 crown came out around 2000 give or take.
omgiv
Great thread!!!!! Thanks for posting it for us. Alligoat, do you have a pic of the wrapped 703 with the shorter (modern) coronet? I have not seen one and would love to see a pic. The only crowns I have seen with that coronet have been the 704 monobloc variety.
live1
good work.also what crown would one put on a sub c?
freddy333
I think your 703 is actually a 702. The 703 (like the 704) has more space between the bottom of the coronet & dots (the closer spacing indicates a 702) There are a number of old threads that discuss the differences/variations that you should be able to locate via the Search. omgiv
Thanks! I still haven't seen a wrapped 703 with that style coronet in person.
janeto72
700,702,703 are wrapped...however there is a monoblock 703 which is quite rare.It was offered in stainless steel and in gold.I have a gold one I can show a pic of.Other than that the modern 704 is a monoblock crown.
