RSC has a special tool to remove the insert from bezel

Is a challenge to do that without it, but possible

Is not a hand tool

They have them like complex few in one

They Don't want to share any info with non authorized service

I will have mine send to them for removal

Put it back is much easier

No. You don't have to remove insert to install.

I have other reasons why I need to remove the insert.

Just press the retaining ring over the crystal gasket like the "older" subs. Then press the bezel (with insert installed) on top of the retaining ring.

Make sure the thin plastic friction washer is installed in the bezel first though.

I have a bad picture of the die they use for the 116710. It looks like it pushes through the grooves in the bezel. I don't know what the one looks like for the 116610 looks like, but would be interested in it as well.

That makes sense. But the 116610 insert only has about 0.5mm overhang around the center for a die to make contact. Very puzzling.

I have no plans on installing mine for awhile. Just trying to figure out how to separate insert from bezel.

There is no need to remove the insert and any attempt is foolish guys. This bezel is so easy to fit. You simlpy press fit the retainer over the crystal and plastic gasket, fit the springs in the 4 holes and then fit the thin white gasket into the groove on the bezel and press fit to the case. Job done. There is simply no need to remove the insert as it should be pre-aligned already.
