EMM
I have an escape wheel that is just flopping around when the second wheel turns. It does nothing at all when the balance assembly turns. Here's a videohttp://vimeo.com/98872604What's the problem and how do I fix it?Thanks!

EMM
I took the pallet fork out and it looks fine. Here is the wheel: Here's the pallet fork: Here's the bridge: Anything looking broken? Is there a chance this is a 6497-1 escape wheel, so it won't work in the Noob movement?
436NR
It's the pallet fork. I've repaired this before. Be sure it's seated properly and the stones are engaging the escapement. Replace the fork if it's not engaging. One of the stones could've recessed too much.

SSTEEL
Agree with CeeJay, the pivot is broken off.
ceejay
This is what the balance staff should look like. Notice the pivot at the end? Missing from the one above. Edited June 23, 2014 by ceejay
mymanmatt
Are you sure the jewel on the balance wheel is in the pallet fork. I don't see the bal assy moving. Remove the balance assy and be sure the jewel from the balance wheel is in the pallet fork
EMM
Yep, pivots are missing top and bottom. Far as I can tell, the new one came without them. Second question - is that vertical gear with the pivots removable from the wheel part as in ceejay's picture? If so, how do they "stick" together? ceejay
They are a press fit but it will be a lot easier and less painful to just get another escape wheel. I would put up a WTB for a escapement wheel (15 teeth) for an Asian 6497, there must be plenty about Good luck
