Replica movements (Swiss/Asian)

Hi guys, noob replica buyer here, so have some patience!

 

So, I've read a few discussions regarding the differences between the Original Swiss and the Asian version of the 7750 movement. However, most of them are quite old, so I was wondering if the old saying "the Swiss version is more reliable and better build quality" still holds true? 

 

I purchased my first watch from Andrew with an Asian 7750 movement and so far it's working fine but I was looking at getting a watch with a Swiss 7750 for comparison's sake. Andrew says he won't be selling watches with Swiss 7750's anymore because they are too expensive to get, but WatchEden's site lists several watches as having Swiss 7750's installed without a higher price tag than the Asian counterparts found on Andrews site. Are WatchEdens product descriptions false?

 

Another question, I'd really love to have a replica watch with an actual 36.000bph movement. Am I right in assuming that this has not been done by the replica watch makers yet? If so, why not? Is it a matter of cost or technical expertise?

Yes the Swiss 7750 is still far superior than the Asian 7750 in terms of reliability and build quality.

 

Watcheden...if it sounds to good to be true it usually is

 

36,000vph vs 28,000vph

The advantage with the more accurate (alleged) timekeeping of the 36,000vph vs the reliability, accuracy and cost of manufacture of the 28,000vph is not enough reason for them to be more common these days.

Whether that will change in the future with technological advances in manufacture of the movements and lubricants...who knows?

 

I know of no rep movement that runs 36,000vph?

Just quoting Ceejay: the Swiss 7750 is expensive (around 200€ or more) but is better. Anyway you won't find it in the reps.

And buying a rep containing an asian version and then swap it with the gen isn't an easy option, since the hands will not fit (so at least you've to add the cost of gen hands to the movement).

A good option is to make the asian version to be serviced: it's around 135€ and it will run much smoothly after.

 

36kBPH in reps? Not that sensitive: just few watches have a movement like that (see Zenit El Primero and some Seiko 9S series movements like the 9S85 -> http://www.seikowatches.com/support/ib/pdf/SEIKO_9S.pdf ) and theoretically the reps should be as much similar to the gens as it can be (even the 28.8kBPH are wrong in some watches like the AP's RO, that beat at 21.6kBPH)

I have recently priced Swiss ETA movements, brand new sealed packages, price is anywhere from 375 - 450 USD , so if someone says they have Swiss ETA's in their watches, I would be very skeptical. Also, because Swatch is choking off the supply of ETA movements, the 7750's are getting scarce, and more expensive.

Unless you have a really nice watch that you plan to keep for a long time, it would be more feasible to get your A7750 serviced.

I don't think they make reps with eta 7750s.

Most ETAs can be bought fairly cheap (new and used). 7750s though are far from cheap.

I would never bet on it being in any rep let alone a rep from watcheden.
