HaydenM
Hi everybody, I have decided to embark on my first build and have decided that it should be for a Tudor Snowflake. I've chosen black due to it being far easier to find the bezel. In my research and through asking people around here I have discovered that I will need to get Dial / hands (I'm thinking the yuki offering looks quite good) Case Movement Crystal (T19) (ordered) Rolex crown (703) Rolex or Clark tube (not sure where to source this) I have heard of people getting a "cartel" 5513 and converting it. I was wondering due to the problems I have had recently with the movements in rep watches if anybody knows if it is possible to purchase just the cartel case so that I could purchase a TC 2824-2 which I would trust far more. So in summary does anybody know where I could source these parts and any other advice. Thanks in advance HaydenM
Nightwatch
Hi, just received a Cartel 5513 from Sead (Supermirrors) and would recommend him ($118+shipping). I wanted the 369 dial, the other is available as well with meters first. The Athaya crown and tube is available through here: http://www.homageforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=24671 (this is the 7 mm one) for $35, arrived same day as the watch. Gen-spec 20mm Rolex lugbars are available from Cousins.UK and were a direct fit already improving the look:) from here: https://www.cousinsuk.com/catalog/10/0/1813/3395.aspx?code=R19196#select 20mm (050) Generic Cousins ref: R19196 Have to say I was very pleasantly surprised by the excellent timekeeper I got, and how well it wears. Except re-shaving the crownguards (more pointy) I´m almost tempted to leave it as it is instead of risking the Yuki-dial not fitting the case or movement etc., this is what I had chosen: http://www.yukiwatch.com/catalog/item/8677972/9766064.htm Good luck with Your project. On a side-note I´m waiting for this to be released from September/October onwards, its waterproof& gen, going for the blue: http://www.borealiswatch.com/store/#!/~/product/category=6645472&id=35192472 Seads Cartel 5513 otb with another strap
panerai153
I was amazed at the prices of gen Tudor Blue bezel inserts. I have a gen Tudor 9411/0 that I'm thinking of trading or selling. I went to the Vintage Rolex Market to check prices. There were vintage fat font Blue inserts that the seller was asking 1200 USD each!!! That's half of what I paid for my watch in 2007! Bc1221
gen spec 2mm spring bars fit cartel cases without mods? interesting.. might have to order a set and try. if you wanna do a economic tudor snowflake build with no date, get a cartel 1680/5513. it will come in a 5513 case. buy the blue snowflake dial from Yuki. these will fit the cartel case. 26mm yuki Snowflake hands get a atheya 702 crown+tube. much cheaper than gen crown and tube and you get the same look for $35 bucks. a clark plexi. sell some of the other parts to recover some of your losses. the main issue with cartel cases is the stubby crown guards. you can work these to a decent look if you know your way around a dremel and a polishing wheel. add a slim 702 crown and itll look the part of a polished 40 year old watch. after some work, this is what mine looks like on my first attempt at modding. still need a atheya 702 crown bc that big rep crown sticks out like a sore thumb but im happy with it. its not perfect but we all learned somewhere right? HaydenM
Just as an update this project is currently being put to the side for a while as I am going to instead undertake a 1016 build that I was able to source the parts. I have sourced the plexi for this watch but it is being put to the side.
