Anyway, I wonder if any of you ultra-rep modders would ever take on a project of this magnitude. I would love to see it and/or pay you to make me one if you ever did. I'm not surprised that someone else has offered "prettier" bridge decorations in a similar watch - although to be fair those were done by machine. The beauty in this case is more in his sense or personal accomplishment as it was all done by hand. tvt Posted December 18, 2006 Report Share Posted December 18, 2006 The thing is that to me the final watch is just plain ugly. PAMs do not lend them well to this type of thing. No doubt this look isn't for everyone, you either like or hate it. Personally, I see it as a total paradox, a military watch that has been skeletonized, it really makes no sense and I think that is why I like it. I exchanged a few emails with that uglyduckling guy, turns out he had the same problem I did with the hour wheel slipping. His solution was to create an arm that extended over the hour wheel, I think he used a hand. He sent me some pics but I can't find them. It looked ok, but seemed a little strange with an extra hand on the movement. My solution has been to file down the min hand so it actually holds the hour wheel down, seems to work well. chris5264 Posted December 18, 2006 Report Share Posted December 18, 2006 Greg completed this in his basement...and as has been said here a million times....it's what HE likes....not what anyone else likes, right? At least he did the work himself, didn't farm it out to someone else. Of course,,,this is the BIG difference between my watches and his. I have a lot of respect for what he did,,,he came up with it first AND,,,he actually did the work by hand. I've said this a few times,,,but doing a skeleton 6497 by hand has been a major goal of mine for a long time. Hopefully I'll have the time soon to give it a try.
