below24 Posted January 8, 2016 Report Share Posted January 8, 2016 Morning all!So I have had this lovely watch for a number of years (yes its filthy, apologies).I need some help here, as my knowledge is very limited.I don't know what the movement is.I think the crown is broken, (looked on eBay). I can no longer wind the watch manually or adjust the hands.Is it worth getting it serviced?If so, where can I find someone that can do this in the UK. hugop Posted January 10, 2016 Report Share Posted January 10, 2016 That one looks like 7750 and yes the broken stem will have to be extracted from the movement and replaced. The crown will have to be replaced unless you can lock on to the broken stem and get it back out of the crown. It does not look as though there is enough of the stem sticking up to lock on to. Just watched a video on reluming and now I want to do that! Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk Lock on to the broken stem with pliers. Would require there was enough sticking up to grab onto. Probably best to have new stem and crown. You can remove case swirlies with a cape cod. If you use cape cod on Crystal it will remove any AR coatings. Often the scratches you see in the crystal are actually scratches in the AR coating. Sometimes if mine are beat up enough I just remove the coating but be warned, it is time consuming and hard to get off. Find a cheap practice dial to hone your luming skills on you will be much happier with the results once you have mastered the skill. Best of luck! camaya Posted February 20, 2016 Report Share Posted February 20, 2016 Has the issue been resolved for you yet? As StormTrooper stated, you will need a new crown and stem. It is possible that you might need a full service on the movement, seeing as it is an A7750, which are notorious for winding/setting issues. The gear that winds the barrel is made if incredibly cheap metal that chews teeth if handwound, causing debris to enter the rest of the movement. This watch is quite old and I think it's an Asian 7750, so might not be worth getting it serviced.
