Genuine 16800 Help!!!

trying to buy a gen 16800 MK2

The seller insists that its fully gen but the insert looks too thin to me. Can anyone help out to see if it's a gen mk2 insert?

I'd agree with that, still gen Rolex so I wouldn't think it would make a big difference to value etc. Beautiful iconic piece. Well done

Well there are no MK designations that I know of for Sapphire sub inserts (16800, 168000, 16610 all use the same inserts).  Where are you getting this MK2 stuff from?

The Sapphire inserts are 

1.  different than plastic sub inserts both in font and size. 

2.  much much cheaper than plastic sub Fat Font inserts.  So you can probably pick one up for around $60

^ This, I wouldn't let that be a deal breaker. The insert is easily replaceable. The one that is currently on the watch looks fairly aged but the pearl doesn't seemed to have patina'ed the same. Good looking watch either way.

Unlikely for $60 - if you can find good condition 16610 inserts for $60, i'll buy them off you everyday.

Insert looks fine to me- and I would think it's period correct

This is my 16800 for comparison.

Pearls age at different rates and so does the lume on the dial and hands for that matter.
