Did this EVER exist on any gen rivet???

I've been told that this type of last link was used on gen rivets for a VERY Brief time, but have been unable to find any corroboration. I've also read that this is a "tell" on a rep. Any one have anything definitive to put this to rest? I love this bracelet, but if it's a definite 'tell" on a rep i guess I won't use it...

Here are some pictures of an old USA made C&I (aka Cromwell) bracelet that has connecting pieces different from the average swiss rivet oyster bracelet.

Another one on eBay, item number  262489232104  It's rare though, the guy wants $5k.  I paid $35 for mine.  It must be rare too...I couldn't find it just now to look at the end pieces.   :pimp:

Hah!  Mine is only half as rare, as I've cobbled in a different mid endlink on only one end.  :bangin:

Here's a photo I saved that barely/sorta show that bizarre piece.
