Help needed for a Tudor fantasy build...

I have a nice fantasy gen spec gilt Tudor dial and plan to build a complete fantasy watch with it.

My plan is to take a subC case, shave of the CGs and put a nice plexy on it.

Question is...would a gen spec dial 26.x mm fit into a subC case? and is it possible to put a plexy on that case, maybe with an old style bezel (non click with friction ring)?

The Sub-C is made for 29mm dials, the dial opening is >27,5mm.

So that's a no-go...

Secondly putting a friction type bezel is most likely possible, but there will be lot of trial and error and will most likely not end too well...

If I were you, contact TigerConcept, if I remember correctly one of his old no-cg cases had a smaller dial opening and  old possibly fit your dial... Also... Plexi is much easier to accomodate also friction type bezel...

Or why not use a HR 5513/5517 case? Shave the dial outer diameter and make a fantasy Milsub?

The possibilities are endless, but ask yourself... In which end to start? The dial is complicated in several ways. 1) Fantasy 2) 0,5mm too large for 5512/3 cases.

Good luck,  just ask if there's anything I can help with,

Vintage Sub dials are around 26mm so that might be a possibility...

Exactly...

Either a gen spec 1680/1665 case, 26,5mm dial opening

Or a regular rep (e.g. Cartel 5512/5513) and either open the rehaut 0.5mm or remove 0.5mm on the dial.

"That would be about the right size dial for a mid-size case if you didn't want to "waste" the dial..."

I always thought a 1500 or 15000 case would make a nice mid size no CG mid size 'submariner'.  A 26.5mm 1680 dial will work in a 1500/15000 case and you could use a modern stainless 6mm crown made for a 5.3mm case tube.  The catch is the crystal and rotating bezel.  Iirc the OD of a 127 crystal is around 30.3mm and the ID of a 5512/13/1680 inner bezel is pretty close.  Maybe need to make an inner bezel that will fit the crystal and oem spec aftmkt rotating bezel...if the 127 mag or 19 nomag crystal will work on a 1500 or 15000 case, have not tried it.

The 1500 and 15000 cases are the same internally and either one will accept a rolex 1570/5 date or 3035 movement and dial so a 2836/46 should work too.  There is an external difference because a 1500 takes a 117 crystal and a 15000 takes a 145 so there is an external difference in the cases or bezels...the 145 has a bigger OD.  I have the parts but never tried to see what will work with what.
