tframo Posted March 30, 2017 Report Posted March 30, 2017 Hi guys. In your experience, is it typically better to add your gen watches to your existing homeowners insurance as scheduled items or purchases a stand alone policy from a company specializing in jewelry? Also same question for firearms. thanks
capre Posted March 31, 2017 Report Posted March 31, 2017 Isnt the point of firearms to protect your home? The extra insurance could be worth it if something would happen. For me its not worth it.
Minty007 Posted March 31, 2017 Report Posted March 31, 2017 All of my more valuable gens, like the family jewelry, have separate riders on my existing homeowners policy. The less expensive ones are covered under the base policy. Sent from my CONTROL shoe phone inside the Cone of Silence

Minty007 Posted March 31, 2017 Report Posted March 31, 2017 sorry about the weird double/triple post... Tapatalk
runtarunta25 Posted March 31, 2017 Report Posted March 31, 2017 I insure my watches separately. Call it claim hedging, but I don't need my homeowners jacking up if one of my watches get stolen.

tframo Posted March 31, 2017 Author Report Posted March 31, 2017 Thanks guys. Jewlers mutual might be the ticket.
nikki6 Posted April 1, 2017 Report Posted April 1, 2017 Definitely, when I got my Skyland stolen I got 1500 back because I hadn't named it on the policy, you can imagine how annoying it was! Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
panerai153 Posted April 2, 2017 Report Posted April 2, 2017 Got to be careful with homeowners, read the fine print, they have a pretty low cap on jewelry, watches, art, etc. we keep all my wife's jewelry and a few of my watches in a fireproof safe, but the problem is that doesn't insure loss while away from home. I have all my firearms insured with a rider on my homeowners policy. May have to look into Jewelers Mutual.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk 1

gmg_3 Posted April 7, 2017 Report Posted April 7, 2017 I have roughly 20k worth of my wifes jewelry through chubb and pay around $600 ayear. I feel that it is high. My home owners insurance wanted roughly 25% of the items value to cover jewelry / watchs. way over priced I looks at the estimates from jewelers mutual and it looks promising. may have to drop chubb and add my watchs. 1
