georgiworld
Can someone tell me what high end build this is suited for Its genuine midcase Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mr Seamaster
Have a look between the lugs for a reference number.Don’t know what you mean by pointed crowns. If you refer to pointed crown guards, this one looks like a standard crown guard case which got a few polishes over time.A few more pics would help. From the first sight this looks to be a five digit sub case imo
georgiworld
Thanks was hoping to build a 4 digit subNumbers have been polished outYes the guards are what I meant Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mr Seamaster
I‘d say it’s no 4 digit case, as they hadn’t a groove for the o ring at the case where the caseback screws on to. The same with the o ring groove where the crowntube screws in.Crownguards are standard, not pointed. What’s the asking price? I‘d stay away. georgiworld
WowI am very impressed with your expertiseThank youI picked it up for very little on the bay Considering how much phong cases go for how much could i get on ebay cause if i don’t use it, i plan to profit from itSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nanuq
The profile shape of the CGs makes me think 1665, but it's missing the o-ring groove on the top deck. It does look like a 4-digit case, where would the crystal press in with the rehaut like it is? Which leads to the real problem, circled in red. I don't know if you'll ever get it waterproof. thierryjeandrouet
I have bought a similar case on the bay, polished serial numbs..was supposed to be 16610 - it is not.3135 wont fit - it will take 1570/3000 only.I am struggling with the case back as it is larger than a 16610.Someone knows if the 16800 could take a slightly larger case back than the 16610 - thought they were identical? Thanks for any hint on this..Envoyé de mon iPad en utilisant Tapatalk Pro Envoyé de mon iPad en utilisant Tapatalk Pro

thierryjeandrouet
Thread diameter is 30.95mm might be an early 16800 or a 1675. Will try to order a clear caseback with this diameter. Hope you find out.Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk

automatico
"I‘d say it’s no 4 digit case, as they hadn’t a groove for the o ring at the case where the caseback screws on to." I agree. All 5512/13 and 1680 have case back gaskets mounted in the case back, only the 1665 had the gasket mounted in the case. A 1665 case/caseback: From ukspecialistwatches.com. A 1680 case/case back: From Bob's watches. "Thread diameter is 30.95mm might be an early 16800 or a 1675." All 1675 have wide CG and are machined for 5.3mm crowns, they will not accept 6.0mm and 7.0mm crowns without modification. Here is a 1675 GMT case: From VRF. The info above might eliminate a few models but it still does not tell what your case is for sure...16800 may be a good guess. I do not know much about 5 digit models at all. thierryjeandrouet
Thanks Automatico - great post. Good infos indeed - so not a 1675 then / it has a gasket on the case. Did not think about the 1665. I was working on a few 16610 and bought this case as it was mentioned 16610.Now I did buy a few case backs for my 16610s - including gens and some were mentioned 16610 & 16800 so thought they were the same diameter. Would like to find out if 16800 cases evolved from the earlier models to the 16610 cases then. Did order another case back with 30.95mm thread. Will see.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
georgiworld
1665 is a sea dweller and its definitely not one of thoseToo thin and no helium valveRaffles is 29.5Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
thierryjeandrouet
I guess we are left with 16800. 16800 are 30.95mm / 16610 are 30.85? So how do they sell those for 16800 and 16610? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
