$12,000 For A Little Slice Of Metal...

Believe it or not.... That's about the going rate for these now... All original, untouched are fetching insane amounts of money. And collectors are willing to pay.

Might not make much sense to most, but to someone who is willing to pay out $20k for a DRSD PP, it's worth the money.

Ooops! Self correction on two points...

1) PP 1665's aren't selling that low anymore and...

2) This is a MKII dial being auctioned (I didn't look that closely at the font alignment).

Well....guess the old saying 'bout .."one born every minute" is worng......looks like there are loads born every minute.......anyone who pays 12,000 for a dial.....never mind 20,000+ for a hunk of old steel such as an SRSD or DRSD is more than a fool......!

Hi all,

This dial looks to me like what they call "chocolate dial" because of the way it fades and also distinguishable by the small "o" in the coronet. These are highly desirable hence the price. Not sure if they had "Patent Pending" backs though think this dial is later than that.

Check out this: http://www.doubleredseadweller.com/dr_dials.htm
