So maybe it's just super-anal me, but the lume in Andrew's pic looks really bad. The date font is improved but not quite right. The cyclops looks good as does the crown. But if I were to buy this watch, I'd still want a The Zigmeister lume job and an archibald/kruzer datewheel.

To be honest, none of Andrew's pics look that good - I suspect the camera wasn't too hot (and lume pics in low light ain't gonna be pretty if the pics in normal light are poor) so I will reserve judgement on the lume until someone else has one or has photos.

The thing about the date is that even though it's not perfect, it is functional! The early Asian Arktos had such a small date window it was actually hard to read most of the time.

I agree. If the date characters are not exactly right it's a small isssue, taking all the GOOD things into consideration about this watch. I think the lume looks bad because of the pics. Personally I'm really looking forward to getting one of these.

One thing though: is it just the angle and/or the shadows... or does the crown look crooked? I'm guessing its just the picture...

maybe it is not perfect

maybe not the ultimative version

but it is the right step. The bezel is much better (old version has to small markers). Date front is better and the lume also (on old version the marker 6 and 12 are WITHOUT lume)

just received my PAM Arktos92 and there is good and bad about it - I will have to work now but will post more details including pictures compared to my gen tonight - for now please see my comments to your remarks/questions

crown guard and crown guard lever look like the crappy ones on the 21j models. This kills the look for me. My 186 Arktos looks way better than this, even with it's crappy cyclops and date font.

well as expected the crown guard and lever is the crappiest one I have ever seen on any of the 10+ Panerai reps I have  - the crown is also the usual rep crown so no improvement here

good but not great. and is it just me, or does the "5" look slightly higher than the "1"?

total optical illusion - looks the same on my gen at certain angles and is very hard to photograph - The date font is 100% spot on :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Is it super lume or "superb lume"? :whistling:

usual crap rep lume not superb or even decent

Super synthetic mineral sapphire AR colour coated purple glass?

looks more like tint than AR - has a very strong blueish tint compared to the gen and recent real AR coated replicas

maybe it is not perfect

maybe not the ultimative version

as I said forget the lume - non existent...
