coolfire Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Goddamnit! Why are all these unhappy stuff happenning?!
z80 Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I find my self wondering if there are people that come in from the Genuine boards, make nice and buy a rep then report to paypal. If this is the case I blame people who post pics of reps on the gen boards.
sashwatch Posted February 27, 2007 Author Report Posted February 27, 2007 i suspect someone is out to make trouble for all dealers here... but i got no idea who and have no names in my mind... but recent event shows something... we are being WATCH..
Corgi Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Worst case scenario they shut the whole board down... That would be not good.
Pugwash Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 i suspect someone is out to make trouble for all dealers here... All dealers or just dealers that aren't them? No, I don't actually have any suspects. It was a throw-away joke.
coolfire Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 All dealers or just dealers that aren't them? No, I don't actually have any suspects. It was a throw-away joke. Hmmm...

It was a throw-away joke. ?? did i miss anything interesting when i was away....?? oh btw... actually i just found out that my account in photobucket has been hijack.... its weird that this happened... because i set my album to be invisible for public eyes.. so the hacker must have gotten my album address within the community.

Ethan Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Worst case scenario they shut the whole board down... That would be not good. Yeah; good luck with that. Offshore baby!
b16a2 Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 I wonder if all of these big scam sites, (no names mentioned) are being 'ratted' out like our dealers!?
warburg Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 EddieLee can no longer accept PayPal!
mumum Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 I really would like to somehow protect our dealers from crap like this, but no ideas now. Hope you get this resolved Sash, would really like to deal with you down the road on several things and am sure the members here support you.

jfreeman420 Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 I would venture to guess this has something to do with the US recently putting pressure on China to stop counterfeiting. It is very similiar to when paypal stopped doing business with online casinos. The US puts pressure on banking institutions to stop processing payments from illeagal activities and a flunkie task force is assigned to go out and make trouble for everyone. My guess is it is very hard if not impossible to get to any of the manufacturers or large scale dealers. I am assuming the major exporters don't use paypal, so the only way to make any headway and say they did something positive in the war on counterfeiting (notice how everything in the US is a war on something?) is to put a wrench in the retail dealer's business. I can't see any individual taking the time, effort and money to buy a watch and get a dealer shut down. It has to be GAF and government related. I say [censored] em. I prefer the old way of doing business when everything was more hush hush. You email the dealer with a reference of where you got his email, negotiate a price and run to WU with a handful of cash. This hobby shouldn't be main stream. it is still illeagal. The increasing poplularity of these boards has made it so that anyone can join and cause us trouble. I think the dealers have also gotten a little too relaxed and don't realize how seriously the US takes intellectual property rights. Time to tighten up and go back to the alley behind the bar. No more dealing in front of the police station.................
sashwatch Posted February 28, 2007 Author Report Posted February 28, 2007 guess its back to good old fashion of western union or money in an envelop.. no more PAYPAL for me too................
Yannou Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 [ And a secured transaction through a direct credit card processor ?....
maxse Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 damn this is rediculous. WTF is going on? It seems that all of a sudden every dealer is being reported! I think dealers should have a private pp addy and only give it out to their repeat customers or something. This is getting out of hand.
SuperTacks Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 This is disturbing!! the dealers seem to be under attack and a coordinated one at that. I do agree that this hobby may need to be further 'underground.' And what about the other 'mainstream' sites? Has anybody thought that maybe the word 'Replica' may need to be taken out of the forum name? This raises the profile of the forum on search engines and is very easily found at this time. Paypal is going after the dealers. Will the customers be far behind?
catchthecat Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 (edited) i suspect someone is out to make trouble for all dealers here... but i got no idea who and have no names in my mind... but recent event shows something... we are being WATCH.. Probably people with names like R*lex...and other unmentionables who go on the rampage from time to time trying to squash the rep world. Edited March 1, 2007 by catchthecat
JJFlash Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 Its going to get worse here guys. We were mostly ignored when we were a small, fairly secretive society. With all this current high visability product promotion, with obvious high volume sales, we attract lots of attention and scrutiny. Totally different from the early days of buying / selling replica's in these forums. They probably can't shut us down in this forum. However, they can shut down our current methods of doing business. That's what they are after, sellers and their way of doing business. Looks like its working to me. A few will survive, most will not. Just my observation. Most unfortunate.
sashwatch Posted March 1, 2007 Author Report Posted March 1, 2007 sad but truth.. they are shutting down a convenient method of payment.. but i guess we all have to adjust to payment methods like WU, MB, Moneygram or even credit card processing.. which are not easily trackable.. although they may be slightly more expensive but you wouldn't risk freezing all your money in PP!!! in reality, many legit biz are suffering from PP as well.. just look at http://www.paypalsucks.com/ i am considering on other payment methods.. other than PP.. any suggestion?
Torques Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 I wonder if all of these big scam sites, (no names mentioned) are being 'ratted' out like our dealers!? What makes you say that? They all seem to be up and running as usual.
b16a2 Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 What makes you say that? They all seem to be up and running as usual. They are still up and running, but hardly as usual. A main payment method has been cut. I am hoping that this is just Paypal taking action to protect their legal standing, and not the industry closing in on rep collectors as a whole!
