Round 3 is overflowing already.... This has sort of taken me by surprise. I'm going to have to cut it off. The starting timeframe is a few weeks. I might want to push it out beyond tax day. We'll see.

Did you ever figure out a way to safely remove an existing AR coating? If so, I'm in for 4. Otherwise just 1.

Check out my AR Reference Thread and the section on AR stripping. I was able to successfully strip the rep coating off my Breitling Seawolf Avenger Ti crystal. Lacquer thinner and #0000 steel wool were the ticket. The crystal survived and I'm sending it in for coating in round 2. Try it at your own risk, and please follow the safety precautions I talk about in the post.

Wow... We might be full for round 3 already.

how can i tell if my crystal has slight AR on it? i dont see any but then again i could be wrong.can i post pics here and maybe u guys can tell me if its ARed?

What kind of watch is it?

It should be noticeable if it's there. You can angle it so that you can see a reflection from an overhead light source in it. The reflection should have a slightly bluish tint (possibly greenish or yellowish depending on AR type, but those are uncommon) if it is AR coated. I've noticed the blue effect is quite noticeable under florescent lighting.

OK that's more than enough for round three!!! Time frame to start this one is going to be a few weeks. I'll let you know. I've got to get the round 2 crystals collected first.....

subzero1 - I won't feel bad if you only do the 1 crystal!!!

Well, i would be in, if only i knew how to remove the cristal

Is it risky ????

i'd like to do it on my omega PO and my IWC spitfire chrono ...

Any help would be appreciated :help:

Thanks

Removing it isn't that big a deal. Putting it back, however, is. It requires special tools.

A quick tutorial on removing and refitting a crystal would be much appreciated. How much is the tooling (a crystal press?)?

If my crystal press arrives in time, I'll do you a tutorial. Otherwise, if you're in the EU, I'll be offering a removal/fitting service for Chiefy's AR runs.
