yepme Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 I got a PM from a member with the handle thebluehorseshoe asking for PM or contact info on EL. I consider myself a noob here, and with zero posts, I replied I'm not sure what they were talking about and suggested they posted their question in the public forum. I have PM'd a few members here with questions and have always got polite responses. With recent events, I attempted to use what I consider sound judgment in my reply. Did I do a bad thing? Thanks for your feedback.
fotoman Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 If thats how it was asked - yes you did the right answer
ryyannon Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 Be very careful about responding to one (or two or three) post wonders asking for dealer (or other) info. As you did, suggest that they post their requests publicly. Good reaction.
KB Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 Agree good thinking after all someone with zero posts could easily be trouble. Ken
Zed Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 I got asked about Jos from the same guy in a PM over on RWG1 with 0 posts too ... Best not to answer and a good idea not to click on links from a first time poster either ( spyware) ? Zed
spooky driver Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 i've asked about dealers on RWG1 but only to RWG Admin and like now i was more of a lurker......but it would be strange to pm someone with less than 100 posts
yepme Posted April 24, 2007 Author Report Posted April 24, 2007 Thanks, while I have no intention of being rude to new members, I also am not so naive as to fall for what was to me, an obvious attempt to illicit information. I appreciate the feedback of the senior members and moderator, and find it disturbing that I am not the only one to have this happen to. Thanks for hosting a great joint here!
ahchard Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 good idea... never thought of that... maybe we should not allow members to send pm until they have a certain amount of posts...
chrisbailey86 Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 Goog thinking! Yea i think you shouldnt be able to PM until you have a certain number of posts.... Maybe 100?
Ethan Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 I only wish more folks were as cautious. Well done.
