flavor flav Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 this is the second run of the A/R coatings group buy. i agreed to do the work for the members who didn't remove the crystals themselves.. the first pic will show the watches i completed last night! what a night it was.... lots of work but it's all a success and some very nice watches have now come to be! if you had your watch in this run.. i will be shipping out tomorrow usps priority mail so expect your watches back friday or saturday.. let me say this about the durability of these coatings.. i removed the outer coating on my personal bentley and it took hours and hours of scrubbing with steel wool and chemicals!! even to get a scuff it took over an hour of scrubbing! super tough coating and exactly like genuines use.. here's what i had on my plate at 8pm last night...i've always took pirde in a fast turnaround but this was crazy!!! .getting quite busy around here here's the results!!!! this watch...i have to be honest..i did not like the look of it at all.. but after the AR mod.. i love it!! the dial really pops now this is a comparison with a 111h i was also modding (superlume, cannon, lever, ect..) it has the single AR from the factory. compare the reflections of the recessed lights with the 183 and you can see the effect the double AR has.

AMK000 Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 Amazing work. Mirror is broken and dials revealed. I never really understood why the CHN manufacturers dont put any AT on their watches (...other than price of course).
HauteHippie Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 I'm glad you all like the results. Very interesting to know about the difficulty stripping this coating. That says volumes about its real durability. A couple hours of scrubbing with steel wool and chemicals is impressive. And to put that in perspective, I have stripped the rep AR coats in about 3 minutes with lacquer thinner and light scrubbing with 3/0 steel wool... So, everything my AR supplier has told me about the coating has been right on the money.
b16a2 Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 Very nice! Did the existing AR coating on the Seawolf have to be removed before it was sent of for the double AR?
HauteHippie Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 Very nice! Did the existing AR coating on the Seawolf have to be removed before it was sent of for the double AR? Yes that's my watch and I removed the AR coating on the crystal myself. Piece of cake.
flavor flav Posted May 2, 2007 Author Report Posted May 2, 2007 Yes that's my watch and I removed the AR coating on the crystal myself. Piece of cake. came out awesome BTW. the bezel is fixed now too like you wanted .
crystalcranium Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 Amazing work. Lots of artisans here. Maybe expensive mods to a replica watch don't make good economic sense but one has to get a warm fuzzy feeling of satisfaction when doing first rate upgrades like this to any watch regardless of origin.
