Oh No!!! Will Robinson is DEAD!!!!!

No really- after reading this thread through, it is clear that it was appropriate to raise the red flag when someone with 3 posts is asking where they hid the gold. Beyond that, if he is genuine in his desire to track down MBW, he can 1) look around 2) Stick around long enough and contibute enough to become a trusted member of the community. If he is a shill, he'll be flushed out as such.

There are names on this board that I can look at and instantly recognize, and have no compunction about sharing info with, but with dealers being hauled off in shackles and shot executioner style without a trial in the public square, we all need to be a little judicious.

Wow... a playground insult. "U r 2"... I'm impressed. "Yo momma wears combat boots" is probably next?

Btw, that was a rhetorical question so you needn't bother sparking up your sole sputtering neuron to generate another dull, dim-witted rejoinder.

I especially dislike people who somehow visualize that they're some sort of authorities over their fellow veteran posters, abusing controversial threads by posting completely useless and equally abusive "calm down guys" messages. Yeah, I flamed a noob. Maybe I was "over the line" and unfair, but it's definitely not your call to judge that.

Do me a favour CC, if you're going to post more girly snide remarks at me, at least make it straight and honest next time. I have absolutely nothing against good, old fashioned flame war (if absolutely necessary). And it has nothing to do with "anger management", either.

Girlie snide remarks. Jeeze, I thought I was being polite.

So what do you call it when someone who exhibits the ability to work and play well with others most of the time shows up one day with a beligerent chip on his shoulder ready to take on the world in a steel cage match? It's not my call??? What isnt my call? My opinion you're out of control today? It sure as hell is my call if the only person I have to satisfy with that opinion is me. The fact is I couldn't care less about you or your off the wall "out of the blue breakdown" today but you seemed ready to fight anyone you got within an arm's length of so...no problem...

Since when is a "Calm down guys" post "abusive" (to anyone other than posters with raging cases of paranoia)?

And as for my sputtering neurons.....I just got paged for a consult for one of my HIV patients who just contracted an MDR klebisella infection so.....gotta go save a life....

Have fun rubbing your watches tonight

Can't we all just get along?

The guy asked a question about MBW Royal Oaks. what they were and more importantly where to find them. He received a varied range of responses.. Some politely hinted he should search more througly, others less politely castigated him. I think by the time he got to By-Tor's reply (which may have been a little stining) he was a bit defensive and thus over-reacted .. if you want to know why, go back and re-read some of the replies that preceeded that. They were unnecessarily sarcastic.

Again, remember this guy sees a new site with comments and access to all this good stuff, but the MBW's are cloaked in this double secret mystery cape.. and most of what IS posted relates to rollies... he is looking for a Royal Oak... natural reaction is to ask what gives. SLAM!!!

Sure, given recent events we need to be carefull, but he doesn't know that. So he gets defensive and reacts to some of the earlier sarcastic posts inappropriately.. .and it all goes down hill from there. Guys, this really is a very intimidating place for new comers. I know many of you who are truly expert in the trade get a lot of PM's from noobs... it must be a pain... but it is also a compliment. But in all honestly the PM issue really isn't germane.. he did not PM, he posted a new thread.

Well said, I'm totally with you on this one.

I would also note that it is possible to just IGNORE people instead of making a big old hullabaloo about things.

First off, I would like to thank By-Tor and TTK for finally coming through and helping me with my search. Second, I had no idea my original post would spark this much controversy and debate. After reading all of the responses in this thread I can understand why many members were leery about offering up information. I did not realize there were shills around trying to draw out and expose dealers to legal action. Looking back, the vague nature of my original question and the low post count could make it look as if I had other motives. I should have been more clear in my post and explained what I already knew and what specifically was having trouble finding. I know I look like a noob based on the statistics, but I have been reading this forum and others (Replica Watches Guide, TRC) for quite some time, and have learned a great deal from the membership. I did not post very much because I mostly found what I needed by searching. I know nobody could have known this, and people can only form opinions based on the information they have. I will admit I did get defensive rather quickly, but I sort of felt as if I were speaking for every newbie who was given a hard time for asking a newbie question. Anyway now that I am becoming more adept at this hobby I look forward to becoming a contributing member of this forum. Again I would like to thank those that in the end helped me out, and those that backed me up in this thread. Also I harbor no ill-will to anyone who gave me a hard time.

Thanks,

Mike

Ps. Tonight or tomorrow I will be posting some pics of the tear down phase of a Rolex Cal. 2135 if anyone is interested. I know this is a rep forum but I figured some people may be interested in it for the sake of eye candy or curiosity on how the gens are put together.

The pictures are up in the Rolex forum under the title "Watch Porn, A Vintage Lady Datejust With Her Clothes Off" Sorry there isnt much explanation with the photos, but I was really tired by the time I got around to doing it.

Enjoy,

Mike
