slay
WTF? Dear User: Unfortunately, access to this particular category or item has been blocked due to legal restrictions in your home country. Based on our discussions with concerned government agencies and eBay community members, we have taken these steps to reduce the chance of inappropriate items being displayed. Regrettably, in some cases this policy may prevent users from accessing items that do not violate the law. At this time, we are working on less restrictive alternatives. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you, and we hope you may find other items of interest on eBay. Thank You. Hit the return button to return to the previous page. Maybe because its a watch from WWII and that term is blocked in germany?? from the auction: I was told this is a very High End, Very Expense, Beautiful Rare watch. This Model is the King of the PANERAI RADIOMIR WATCHES. From WW II made for the Italian Navy Edited April 17, 2006 by Dutchy

Listed in category: Jewelry & Watches > Watches > Wristwatches Also listed in: Collectibles > Militaria > WW II (1939-45) > Italy maybe that's the reason. slay
i really hate ebay! btw. its EBAY who blocks it out for german ip adresses. even if i use a proxy it doesnt work. it works with a VPN from findnot.com though, but i dont have access to it anymore! used that vpn to buy Mein kampf for history class a few years ago Edited April 17, 2006 by slay

slay
for all those for whom it doesnt work: type in "about:config" and press enter (firefox) change the string "intl.accept_languages" to "en-us, en" (i changed it from "de-de, de, en-us, en" to that) and it will work just fine! all of a sudden you can buy all that nazi stuff
statikman
a newbie bidded on it 3 times in a row.....something fishy.... The newb didn't bid, his bid was pushed up by someone with a lower max bid. Crazy how it got to 15K without a pic of the movement. Maybe someone should pick up a WM special, beat it up, crack the crystal and see what happens once the bidding starts.
Cucumber_Jones
I am surprised that there is no movt photo. That is the exact dial that I want to locate.
ryyannon
I was told that there is something odd about this auction. I was told to beware of people insisting on WU, certified check or bank transfer payments. I was told that the strap looks 'artfully' aged. I was told that the seller's other auctions involved more or less worthless bric-a-brac. I was told that the seller seems in no way a watch specialist. I was told that the line "I would like everyone in the world a chance to win this watch in this auction" sounds surprisingly like a paraphrase of the pimp's monologue in Martin Scorcese's 'Taxi Driver.' Finally, I was told that the passive form 'I was told' is a watered-down, wimped-out way of saying, 'Somebody told me.' The 'somebody' could be JetMid or the seller's dog... It's also a handy phrase in the event that the watch turns out to be other than genuine, as in, 'Well, I was told that it was a genuine item!' Want to know more? Sorry. As the seller says, 'I have no other information on this.' Good luck bidding! edit/update: if someone had the time and patience, it would be interesting to try and get the seller to agree to open the back to see (i.e., photograph) what's really in there. Given the price and lack of any objective info 'I was told' that any reputable seller would agree to do this. As a matter of fact, does anyone know how to ask the seller this type of question and have it appear on the bottom of the page (rather than having it sent directly as a PM or an email?) jimmytim
Well, to me the seller either don't know anything about this piece or he/she knows that it is fishy and pushing all the blame to an imaginative person if something goes wrong. dadog13
OMG... it is 21000$... hope the bidder gets what he will pay!
swdivad
OMG... it is 21000$... hope the bidder gets what he will pay! AND reserve is not yet met! The hands look very new, but the dial looks a very nice vintage. For that price, I'd be flying over there with my bodyguard watchmaker to verify its authenticity for sure

savage_here
The buyer is active on Paneristi. Not that that makes him an expert, but he probably knows (or has access to) a few people who can authenticate it. Must have been pretty sure to plunk down 50K.
