I want to change the color of the yellowish index markers on this dial

To look like the white index markers on this dial

I have considered (but not yet tried)

  1. Chlorine Bleach
  2. Painting the existing lume with white paint
  3. Scraping off the existing lume and repainting with white lume
Of the 3, the bleach would be best since, if it works, the original texture and shape of the lume will remain the same. But I do not know if the bleach will whiten the color, or if it will whiten it consistently (without blotching), or if it may deteriorate the lume causing it to flake off.

If anyone else has tried this, what did you use & do?

I'd go with option 3. Kent Parks at everestwatchworks.com could probably do a nice job with that...

I sent a 16800 dial to Ziggy a few months ago and got it relumed. Now I just have to get it in a sub case! It cost $50 plus some postage. Of course, Zig is out of pocket for the summer.

Alligoat -- Yes, I hope Ziggy is having alot of fun in the sun while the rest of us toil in the shade.

Avitt -- I forgot about Everest. I would prefer to do the work myself, but I will check into that.

Kent might even be able to reshape those markers at 6 and 9...It's worth inquiring.

I agree and just did (inquire)

Actually, the DRSD dial would need alot more than the index markers. The crown is too narrow and the text in the lower half of the dial is not layed out very well. I do not know if he can do much about that (or better than the original repainter did), but we will see what he thinks.

Thanks again for the suggestion, Avitt.

Tribal, you've got that stuff down to a science :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I just used some Revell (with a drop of Yellow Ochre) to mod a set of Clark hands... I am still grateful for your original suggestion of Night Color, so long ago.

Tribal -- I remember that and it looks good. Is this the one you applied (slowly) with a pin?

Yep I just took the shot with night color on my MBW DRSD and MBW WSD. Actually I used the stuff without diluting and without ocre. Just straight from the pot with a toothpick. Great results... Best tip ever on RWG.
