Trusty now offer it with 7750B1 movement. Check his offers.

Pros: Date mag looks much better :)

Cons: No shined bezel and yellow/white dots on the subdial at 9 <_<

.... is getting there

Once that bezel is improved to shiny and the dots have no metal rings on the dial, I will buy it in a flash. Until then, it's just too damn 'off'.

This watch is by far one of my favorite PAMs. I love the no hash mark bezel. Its really future & art deco looking to me. Utilitarian beauty. Wow. What a friggin' watch.

Hi:

Could you explain the comment about the dots with no metal rings. I've just looked at a couple pix of genuine 024s and their dial markers look the same (with rings). What am I missing?

The issues are the following:

a.) Rep is modeled after the A series which is the only one that came with no etchings on the bezel (it has raised markers only). On that version there are no metal rings around the hour markers

b.) Subsequent versions have bezel with both markers and etching. Some have rings and some don't

I do believe the A did come without bezel etching in both polished and unpolished though.

What I do appreciate about this particular version is that the hands and how they join on the center pinion is very close to spot on and that (IMHO) is the give away on all these subs. Plenty of watches require repairs and new dials. :) None get a replacement cheapy movement with capped hands.

If you want to get psychotic about it:

Polish up whole watch, investigate removing rings from hour markers (I believe they are glued on), relume with creamy lume to emulate tritium, add new cyclops and hope someone makes a datewheel. Between the 7750 - 48, 49, 24, etc, there may be enough demand to warrant someone doing this. Now you are looking pretty good.

Then again you have too much money into it and it costs almost twice as much as the original lower cost version.

I just got this watch yesterday and Kruzer is pretty spot on about the details. The date mag is still pretty weak on this, which I feel is still the biggest give away about it. However, its heavy and feels good on the wrist, like a sub should. I strapped on the rubber strap and I feel that its still the better of the 2 versions.

A and B series had polished bezels with no markers. And only the very last of the B series subs had ar coat either. I believe only all polished was available on the b series.

but neither had the rings around the minute markers
