Bright-Ling. In German words, the second vowel in EI/IE determines the sound. Ends in E, sounds like E. Ends in I, sounds like I. Scheisse and Edelweiss being well-known words with the EI sound/spelling. If it were spelt Brietling, it's be pronounced Breet-Ling.
