this has still a lot of work ahead - but here are some pics of my "Franken" GMT-Master -

not much Franken jet - just gen dial + gen used insert -

my gen crown sadly dsnt fit on the rep-tubes - need new tubes first ..

next step will be lugholes and aging the case ;) and non SEL bracelet.

What a beauty, Kelster! Terrific work!

I am also planning to do the same to my lug hole case TW best 16710. I have finally collected all the parts required for the project: OEM T-dial. correct length GMT hand, OEM crown/tube and I was finally able to source an OEM insert at a reasonable cost.

IMO, this is the best project for the GMT as the T-dials are readily available and not expensive, yet. Modern but with a vintage flair. :thumbsupsmileyanim: The only trick is finding the correct lug hole case.

thanks !

exactly - the Ref. 16700 i choose only because the dials are so cheep ;)

i payed with shipping only 60 Euro for mine.

sadly i have no tw-best or other case with lugholes - drilling them will be an adventure :)

wish me luck !

Hi Frank,

looks fantastic i think..

You did a great job on this GMT

You can find good Tubes and Crowns easily on the Bay....

keep us updated on this project....

For the Lugholes, it's really an adventure when there are no holes in the case...

You can only drill from the outside, but this is a damm hard job....

Maybe a good Factory drilling machine and HSSE Cobalt drills will work....

thanks - yes my watchmaker is ordering some drills,

not sure about the size - smaller than 1mm to start i think.

but i try to get access to a good drilling machine - have some old cases to test first ;)

Nice, nice :) And amazing how you drilled the lugholes... wasn't it hard to position them correct before drilling??
