docblackrock Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 Rolex manufacture + Sapphire crystal + AR coating applied. True or False?
Seadweller4000 Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 Rolex manufacture + Sapphire crystal + AR coating applied. True or False? You can apply AR on any sapphire crystal. I don't think Rolex does it on the gen ones out of the box. Don't know 'bout the new ones from 2007 though.
docblackrock Posted November 9, 2007 Author Report Posted November 9, 2007 A few more guesses/thoughts please....
docblackrock Posted November 9, 2007 Author Report Posted November 9, 2007 Don't know 'bout the new ones from 2007 though.Hmmm
slickdick Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 Well if the majority off swiss whorology is applying AR, rolex cannot stay behind really... but i don't see them doing it any time soon
docblackrock Posted November 9, 2007 Author Report Posted November 9, 2007 Well if the majority off swiss whorology is applying AR, rolex cannot stay behind really... but i don't see them doing it any time soonHmmm, you think so do you?
docblackrock Posted November 9, 2007 Author Report Posted November 9, 2007 OK well I've been as subtle as an Australian sledgehammer, and no-one's biting so I'll spill - that answer is TRUE!!! There IS a current production Rolex watch that has a factory spec that includes an AR coating applied to the crystal. Anyone know what it is?
freddy333 Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 No AR on any Rolex to date that I am aware of. If there is, I would guess it is the new Milgauss or YMII.
piratedzeus Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 on the cylcop of the GMT II is AR I think?
Guest avitt Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 A follow-up question: If proven to be true, is it single or double AR? (I'm guessing single.)
docblackrock Posted November 9, 2007 Author Report Posted November 9, 2007 on the cylcop of the GMT II is AR I think? And we have a winner! Yes, the ceramic-bezelled 116710 GMTII does indeed have a single-layer of AR coating applied to the underside of the cyclops Also had it confirmed by a good friend (and AD) of mine last night... A sign of things to come maybe with the new Sub and SD (using the new case on the GMT) likely to be announced at Basel 2008? Fingers crossed....
piratedzeus Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 When will I receive the GMT II prize?
ahchard Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 so maybe i should AR the cyclops for my 029....hmmm....
Stephane Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 Well, that is a good move. My guess is the cyclop was invented to make the date easier to read...but it is bloody hard to read from certain angles in fact. Having said that, I am very happy there is no AR on the "vintage" or say recent Rolex. Maybe one of us should have a Noob AR coated...could be funny to see.
Dizzy Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 well finally!! now that rolex has discovered AR maybe they will use it on all their watches.. even if they did a single side side AR.. i think i am gunna pop the crystal outta my franken 16610 MBW and get it done.
