maxmsu Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 I am pretty sure lots of people noticed on all of the watch ads (almost all of them) showed a time of 10:10.... What is the meaning of it? I took an advertisement class and finally understand the meanings now hehe... anybody want to guess??
HauteHippie Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 No meaning... Just a good place to position the hands for a photograph such that the dial print, date window, and most details of the watch are visible. My guess.
Emmzy Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 10:10 allows all the dial features to be clearly viewed......there is no other expanation....is there?
hyster Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 10:10 allows all the dial features to be clearly viewed......there is no other expanation....is there? I read somewhere you subconsously see it as a smile I'm feeling a bit more twenty past eight myself at the moment
wildo Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 emotional marketing perspective. Manufacturers want you to see their product 'smiling' at you!" also the manufacturers logo is then "framed" by the hands. Or something clever like this from what I have been told.
wildo Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 .. doesnt explain why digital ones are set to 10:10 though, so ignore me.
maxmsu Posted November 30, 2007 Author Report Posted November 30, 2007 NOPE... none of your guys got it right... anybody else???
LordRasta Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 I usually take it as, it's 10:10 somewhere right now!
wildo Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 10:10 psychologically makes you look the watch up, see if theres a rep and buy it? works for me. damn those subliminal scumbags. I didnt even like watches until I noticed it was 10:10.
wildo Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 (edited) PLease excuse the number of posts made by me here, its a quiet night in work.. I thought, I'll get you Max, I looked up BRAILLE WATCHES... I couldnt believe what I saw (no pun).. Now how the hell does it help sell a Braille watch???!!! CONSPIRACY. NO QUESTION. http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h...w=105&prev= Edited November 30, 2007 by wildo
sssurfer Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Opened legs (widespreaded) with a hole between them (especially in case of a recessed pinion)

If the watch has a crystal, how will that help the blind? I'm assuming braille watches have no crystal.
wildo Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Opened legs (widespreaded) with a hole between them (especially in case of a recessed pinion) That at least explains why some of the reps I have owned were F--ked when I got them.

maxmsu Posted November 30, 2007 Author Report Posted November 30, 2007 Opened legs (widespreaded) with a hole between them (especially in case of a recessed pinion) We got a winner... kinda 10:10 is all about the "sexy times" haha... 10:10 (PM) is the time when most people get lucky
Guest watchbuff Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 I ususally wait for after the 11:00 news
KB Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Damn I was going to say coffee break time Ken

LordRasta Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 10:10 is all about the "sexy times" haha... 10:10 (PM) is the time when most people get lucky Well then I need to tell my wife! Or does this only apply to the single people? You single guys are lucky!
Emmzy Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 I got lucky at 10:14 this evening........or was my fake Rolex running fast again?
ryyannon Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 Perhaps the answer is to be found in the Alabama State Police 'Ten-Code' system of abbreviations for radio calls: 10-10: Out of Service
offshore Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 10:10 is all about the "sexy times" haha... 10:10 (PM) is the time when most people get lucky Well I must need a perpetual calender watch, 'cos getting lucky for me, needs to establish... a year, month, day, and time... then book 12 months in advance! ....AND try to foreward forecast headaches!!!! Offshore
Pugwash Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 Sheesh, that sounds like advertisers trying to find meaning. It's got nothing to do with "sexy time" which is obvious to anyone that knows how long watches have been sold with the hands in that position. Theories like "it's a smile" or "it's a tick" may hit on the subliminal reasons why it was chosen, but advertising simply wasn't that sophisticated back then. Oh, and the biggest reason the 10:10 sexy time theory is bogus? Watches are set to 10:08, not 10:10.
