maxmsu
I am pretty sure lots of people noticed on all of the watch ads (almost all of them) showed a time of 10:10.... What is the meaning of it? I took an advertisement class and finally understand the meanings now hehe... anybody want to guess??
HauteHippie
No meaning... Just a good place to position the hands for a photograph such that the dial print, date window, and most details of the watch are visible. My guess.

wildo
emotional marketing perspective. Manufacturers want you to see their product 'smiling' at you!" also the manufacturers logo is then "framed" by the hands. Or something clever like this from what I have been told. wildo
10:10 psychologically makes you look the watch up, see if theres a rep and buy it? works for me. damn those subliminal scumbags. I didnt even like watches until I noticed it was 10:10.

wildo
Opened legs (widespreaded) with a hole between them (especially in case of a recessed pinion) That at least explains why some of the reps I have owned were F--ked when I got them. Pugwash
Sheesh, that sounds like advertisers trying to find meaning. It's got nothing to do with "sexy time" which is obvious to anyone that knows how long watches have been sold with the hands in that position. Theories like "it's a smile" or "it's a tick" may hit on the subliminal reasons why it was chosen, but advertising simply wasn't that sophisticated back then. Oh, and the biggest reason the 10:10 sexy time theory is bogus? Watches are set to 10:08, not 10:10.
