servicing Asian 7750 movement

does anyone know where I can go to get the Asian 7750 movement serviced in Sydney, AUSTRALIA???

seems like there aren't too many members on this forum who are down-under

Ask them. I asked my local watchsmith and they have now serviced several for me. I am very happy with their service, quality, and price.

You might check with some of the 'Down Under' members- isn't Offshore from Austrailia?

Ziggy is the master of the asian 7750 and just serviced one of mine, but he is in Canada and currently on vacation. Shipping watches to and from Canada hasn't been a problem- watch for repair and return- gets it thru Customs. He even replaced a couple of defective parts- something most watchnmakers won't have- spare asian 7750 parts. But Ziggy won't be back til January and you have to have a reservation- it could easily push you into Feb or March.

And of course, finding a local watchmaker should be a priority regardless, it makes this hobby so much more enjoyable.

As The Zigmeister would say, simply finding a local watchsmith who says he will work on a 7750 isn't enough. You need to be clear about the level of service that you are looking for (complete disassembly, cleaning, lube, replace worn/broken parts, timing, etc.).

Ken Berg is another member you can check with for down-under specialists.

I have a very good watchmaker in Melbourne that can service these but not Sydney unfortunately.

I'm aware that The Zigmeister has a very respectful reputation, but he's in Canada

I'm a little concerned that if I go around asking watch-smiths around Sydney, maybe one day, one of them might call the police on me...

I'm not aware of the laws in Australia regarding having in possession of counterfeit watches...

that's my main concern.

another is that how do I know if a watch-smith is a reputable one where he will do what he says he is capable of & does the servicing with quality...

I can't tell if he has actually DONE any work on the movement unless I open the caseback...

& even when I open up the caseback, I can't dissemble the movement to check if it's been serviced & oiled...

for I am not very knowledgeable on watch movements

Mate no one will call the police thats just not going to happen.

Do like I did and walk around to a few until you find one that will service this...It helps if you can explain that the movement is similar to an ETA 7750 as most watchmakers when hearing the word rep automatically think of crappy movements.
