My girlfriend is really getting sick of my watch fetish. All I really wanted was a decent SMPO (big size), I was *this* close to ordering the genuine article from an AD I know, and then I had to go and join RWG.

Now I am debating what flaws I can live with on a PAM (probably none), itching for an Aquatimer, sniffing around for a watch winder, etc., etc..

Since I stretched my spending money a little thin during the holidays, I didn't go on a buying rampage yet. Instead I'm biding my time and planning a small collection that I'll probably order all at once. The budget is close to what I would have spent on the gen PO. I'm sure I'll end up spending (lots) more, but this should keep me happy for a while. I would have liked to choose one great dealer and order the whole shebang, but it doesn't look like thats possible.

Must-Have List:

These are for everyday work and play. They need to pass as gens in an upscale environment, not among experts but people used to serious bling.

1) Ice Bang Lite (with an AR job in its future)

2) UPO Black/White with bracelet+rubber strap (Mr. Bond's Omeeega)

3) Panerai (something big on thick brown leather with a sandwich dial--I like the 1950 but it might be too rare to be realistic)

"Dress" watch:

This would be worn with a suit, needs to be fairly believable but doesn't have to be perfect. It has to be BIG; I have an 8.25" wrist and large hands.

1) Cartier Santos 100, Bvlgari Assimo, Breitling Flying B, Patek ?, Cartier Roadster Chrono (the crown looks weird to me without the chrono pushers) or something else.. not sure yet.

2) None, one "dressy" watch is enough for me.

"Tool" watch:

This one is easy, I love the S.W.A.T. team look. I don't really care if it's super accurate.

1) BR-01 Phantom. I know the good one isn't here yet so...

2) El Cheapo BR-01 a la Canal Street to tide me over and see how it wears.

Peace Offering:

My girl is not into watches, jewelry, or name brands (she likes her Forever 21 jeans better than her Rock&Republics) but her friends will notice a fancy timepiece for sure. Her watch needs to look good on a tiny wrist, look good with trendy jeanswear, and look "real" as possible.

1) Hermes, Cartier, Montblanc, Bvlgari, ?

Other:

1) IWC Aquatimer "Slevin". I really can't justify buying it but it's growing on me, I wish there was a lite version or something.

2) AP ROO T3. I think I'd be happy with a budget version of this, probably wouldn't get much wrist time anyway. I know the current reps ain't even close but who's going to know? Guilty pleasure.

3) TAG Gulf Monaco and/or Chopard Mille Miglia GTXL; something to wear when I am pretending to be a 50's racer.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Perfect "small" collection. No Omegas though?

Bvlgari Assimo,

Not the Assioma, please. At least not in gold. With respect, it looks too flamboyant and gay.

Smart move. My boyfriend isn't into watches either..., but he lets me speak about them, whenever I want. Seems like a lot of partners here don't -- that's sad. :(

ZainoDetail recently asked this question. Here is my reply. For your convenience, here it is for you!

"I recently bought Narikaa's (fast depleting stock of) Tag Heuer with black dial.

This was based on By-Tor's magnus opus review of it here, which he got for his girlfriend (he's updated it yesterday saying the watch is still running beautifully).

AWOL member, Lazarini, once asked for suggestions for getting a watch for his better half:

In this thread, JDavis suggests the one I like of the ones you showed, and apparently so does yours! The Omega Aquaterra.

Ajoesmith asked over a year ago, what was the most accurate Ladies rep watch out there:

Here's another thread, about watches for ladies:

Finally, over at Repgeeks, there is a whole section brimming full of photographs called "Women's Watches".

NOTE: I frequently post photos of ladies rep watches in the Wristchecks. Here is a sampling, but I'm afraid I cannot post them all here, as I forget where they are. :p

Victoria, I knew you were going to hook me up! I'm having a hard time picturing her wearing those. Here's the watch I bought her a while back that she likes: HARAW401310_400.jpg

And her engagement ring is custom made but based on this style:10351690.gif

BTW, #2 is, in fact, an Omega.

And I guess the Assioma is a bit fey; but I thought it was the least fruity of the Bvlgaris I've seen. Wouldn't do gold.

Taste is relative. And sometimes it's inbred. ;)

Not too shabby! At least, unusual in design. I hope you're not buying retail...

Quite so, but the PO is a marque unto itself in my mind. I meant more like an SMP. :)

Good call on the gold.

Have you seen the Diagono? I have two gens of that, and they are fairly unisex.

Here's Trusty's versions:

Retail for the watch, sadly, yes (I think it was $200+, has a dead battery ATM). The ring, heck no! I got lucky there, a friend sourced the loose diamond and we took it to a jeweler she uses for custom work. The cost of raw platinum was nuts but overall I did OK. I asked him to copy this photo but he ended up making it even more modern looking, thicker with sharper edges.
