MBW Movement Swap 1680 or 1665

I have read that due to the crown position, a 1680 is not a good choice. Is this true? Does the movement drop in a 1665? Does the gen dial need to be shaved to fit in the case? What other problems/challenges do I need to consider?

Thanks.

I put a 1570 with a gen dial on a MBW 1680, the Dial needs to be trimmed and the movement fits really tight i can only install back one of the screws. SO i decided to get me a 1665 and do that project instead. it looks like is a better fit.

Regards

I will let you know next week how tough a 1570 swap into a 1665 is. My watchmaker will have my 1570 and 1665 on Monday. By the end of the week, the watch will have a gen redial, gen crown and tube, gen crystal, gen hands, gen movement, really nice aftermarket insert and the MBW case. I also have a decent bracelet with gen 580 end links for it. The CG's have already been done... so hopefully it will come out pretty well. I have asked for pics to be taken while the work is being done.
