Clark Parts or Ofrei for MBK 1665?

Dear senior members, fellow MBK 1665 enthusiasts,

I'm in the process to buy some parts for my MBK 1665 GW.

I see that two main aftermarket sources are available: Clark Watch Parts from the bay and Ofrei.

Which one would you recommend for a tropic#39, tube & crown, gaskets, bezel insert.

I would appreciate your honest opinion.

Many thanks,

Athan

I like the Clark parts. His tropic 39 is very nice and the crown tube is fine, albeit a little fragile (you can sheer it off easily). Once installed, it works great. He does not carry a crown. Your best bet is to look for one on eBay (buy the seller first!). His inserts are no better than most that are available. You cannot install an acrylic pearl in one (the hole is too large). I like this insert.

Replace the pearl with an acrylic one from Ofrei and you have a great looking insert. The Ofrei pearl will also fit the insert that comes with the MBW. My only complaint about it is that the font it too thick. If that does not bother you, save the $60 and just buy the pearl.

Try item 200207925147 on eBay... from FL Watch and Jewellers Supply.

It's $10, the (free) shipping can be a bit slow, but the product is excellent.

Thank you POTR,

Have you done the mod by yourself?

If yes, did you do any waterproofing?
