khumzi
Hi Guys, Decided recently to take the plunge, re-mortgage my mother-in-law, and buy a gen Portuguese. I've stayed away from the otherwise lovely reps because of the potential for movt problems. So, I found a blue faced version in the US but am worried for two reasons. The first is that I had not heard of a blue faced version that wasn't a Laureus version (which has the detailed case back engraving; this only has the serial number on the caseback 2678159). The second is that the movt looks cheap and nasty. So I'm either looking at quite a rare and cool original or a rep... Any ideas? Edit: Looks like it's definitely a rep. The serial number is the same one used on reps and looking at that movt and comparing to a gen, there's no comparison...
Bazz
If I remember correctly the middle of the gen case back is brushed? (non-laureus) Looking at my rep the case back, it's the same and I just opened it up and it has all the same numbers. Also look at the movement, looks alot like a 7750... mine has a blank rotor but look at the mangled screw holding it in. IWC are known for their movements and fit and finish. Rep for sure. b16a2
I would say that is a rep. I have an IWC catalogue here, and there is no movement tha looks as 'plain' as the one in the picture. It looks very much like your average 7750, poorly finished, unless the rotor is covering it, no adjuster....
Antonio_Montana
FAKE Look at the seconds dail at the bottom above the 6 marker: at the GEN watch the round part of the six is chopped flat by the seconds dial: http://www.rwg.cc/members/uploads/remoteim...37052-17957.jpg All fakes dont have this, so this is a easy tell in 1 split second. Pix
The strap and cheap rep box tell it's a rep. Look how poor the IWC marking is on the strap.
jkspepper
That is a 100% rep. This guy has previously put this up on eBay and I reported it. eBay did not remove it however so they must think it's real. Idiots.
khumzi
That is a 100% rep. This guy has previously put this up on eBay and I reported it. eBay did not remove it however so they must think it's real. Idiots. Yeah, I just reported it too. Ebay seems to be useless at policing itself though. Unless they stand to lose out! Someone over on the IWC board also reported this guy. Frustrating that the seller remains a Powerseller with 99.whatever% positive rating... Thanks very much to you and all the rest of you folks for setting me right on this one! Cheers, Paul
