mobile1
My first post... I am so glad to have found this forum... to offer some guidance in this field.... lots of cliffs out there lol ------------------------------------------ Anyway so here is my question. I am looking for a LINK to a watch on a store of a reputable dealer, where the original of that watch costs as much as possible. So who can find the highest priced original available as a replica.... of course ideal would be if you could provide a link to the original as well to verify the value of the original. If the watch diameter is less or equal 42mm that would be awesome as well... (since my wrist is rather small) however not required... We might have to do 2 categories... one is tourbillon (or faux ones) and one is non tourbillon. For the faux tourbillon category: The current record holder I see so far is the: Audemars Piguet - Jules Audemars - Tourbillon Chronographe Rattrapante, limited edition of 20 were made in 1999. http://Original sold for $335,000 And I just got a replica of that one. If you have one that is priced at less but still in the very expensive category let us know....

freddy333
The most expensive watches -- both new & used -- tend to be Pateks. I do not know the most expensive watch ever sold, but there are a wide range of Patek reps sold by most of the collectors here. Browse the listings at Antiquorum.com & then search the rep collectors' listings for a match.
yellomen
Patek shamelessly bid on their own watches when they're on auction... so sad, but they drove the price up big time for Pateks on auction these days...
FasTTaP
the skymoon rep is realy a crappy rep though... nobody with any small knowledge about watch will ever believe its a gen, even if you drive a ferrari...
prince458
the patek sold to the gentleman in florida for 1.2million would probably be a contender ... nothing fancy or complicated just a simple watch. he was intereviewed by a panel from patek and was the choosen one becasue of his response to simply pass it onto his grandson. patek aficianados and authories chime in, if my facts are wrong. the patek calavatra sold at auction to the son of the patek founder so the original would be back in the family lineage and/or museum. post your results if you do any due diligence. welcome to the forum by the way. Most auctioneers will bid against the buyers to drive up the price so that it gets sold for something reasonable rather than the opening bid. Happens with art all the time. mobile1
interesting feedback so far... ok here is what I found so far going by this list here http://www.forbes.com/2004/11/30/cx_ns_120...thisSpeed=20000 1-Chopard's super ice cube, at $1.13 Mio - I even got that replica for my wife and she loves it. And it looks pretty good. 2-Blancpain 1735 plenty of clones out there, value about $1 Mio. (the clones on dhgate are even labeled as split second fly back tourbillon...so I assume those might be even more.) the other ones seem fairly affordable with $200k and below. There's probably others....
jfreeman420
Vacheron 250 anniversary calendar was repped and pretty well aside from all the non working complications. I believe this to be the most complicated watch ever with 15 or 16 complications. Retail price $2.5 million.
EuroTimez
Woooowww, sometimes we hassle and bussle around about 10-30 bucks increase in rep prices, but think about having a 2.5million $$$ (just for ppl to realize the amount 2.500.000 usd) around your wrist. I guess some ppl have to much money and don't know what to do with it.
Pugwash
I guess some ppl have to much money and don't know what to do with it. They know exactly what to do with it: spend it on expensive watches to help further the craft. People buying silly complications keeps talented watch designers employed and push the boundaries of what's possible forward. Stuff that happens at the high end trickles down and eventually makes stuff at the low end better. Besides, what would you rather they spent it on? Happens with art all the time. That's called "shilling" it's not shilling when you actually win the auction. The purpose of Patek's (and others') actions is to be able to state truthfully that one of their watches sold for $X,XXX,XXX at auction. With enough time, most people will forget who the winning bidder was but will remember (or be reminded) what the sale price was. Omega is another company known for doing this. It might not be ethical, but it's business.
