As you all know Im not that much into Rolex, but now my mom would like to get an datejust.

So the question is where is the best place to buy one ? TZ ?

Im in the EU and would like to avoid taxes etc....

Thanks guys

TZ or (if you know what you are doing) ebay. You should also check the For Sale section of your local newspaper, since you can actually inspect a watch being sold locally and avoid dealing with any import duties. As far as taxes go, you may need to pay whatever taxes are due on the item that is declared on the customs form. ;)

I've done OK on ebay, but stick to the reputable sellers. My wife got a nice TT DJ for $2K and then we had it serviced. Probably best to stick to an EU seller, but watches might be cheaper in the states with the dollar taking such a hit lately.

Exactly I dont know its for my mom so I have to ask her when I find a good candidate.

quite suprisingly she says she would like a black one.

I agree with Freddy about ebay.

Its your best chance and a high risk.

You need to be able to judge both, and you shouldn't be buying a Datejust on ebay if you are not prepared for both.

If you want to have no exposure to risk you should visit a Rolex AD and take your chances there. The risk is very low.

As an alternative there are many watch dealers on the internet who can meet your needs and you can easily check them out.

For myself, I have bought and sold on ebay for many years and I can judge risk.

Buying a Rolex or a Cadillac is possible. I have done both. Your mileage may vary.
