cyfi Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 Looking for the most bang for my buck... I am very new to the board, so specific dealers with good reputations will be a great start for me. all the best C
yim156 Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 for $400, I will buy 1. Rolex Explorer I with Asian Eta2813 2. IWC Ingenuier SS Black or 1. VC Overseas Black + get it serviced or 1. AP ROYAL OAK Chronograph Black + $25 to get it shipped (Seem like I have a big wish-list) And,,............. suddenly, my girlfriend wake me up.
peepshow Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 I am in the same boat, I am looking to buy a 111, but where can I find a good strap? Wow. The options are almost endless. Give us some help with a price range/limit, material desired, etc. A "good" leather strap source might not be a source for "good" gator straps, etc. Price is probably the easiest place to start.
MyNameIsPeterAndImOld Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 Get one of theirs: http://www.strapculture.com/ They're awesome!
arminvanbuuren Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 why not get a noobmariner? and then use the rest for dinner with ur favourite girl?
cyfi Posted May 21, 2008 Author Report Posted May 21, 2008 Thanks for all the insight guys. For starters, I am deff looking for a PAM watch. Additionally, I would prefer to get one already moded from one of the members. I am actually willing to spend up to 600 for a 1:1 watch. as for which series, most are very nice, so as long as it is very close to the Gen, I am happy. I was thinking of getting something from Davidson
peepshow Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 I was going to be the smarta$$ and ask everyone why, since this was posted in the Panerai forum, they were suggesting a bunch of non-PAMs. DSN's 104 is very good. If you're looking for a Historic (handwind) model, I would suggest the 010D. Good luck. Oh, there is no 1:1 PAM rep, at any pricepoint...

Really sorry, I did not see the Topic section when I post. I clicked it on the quick link. If I have $400 for PAM, I will go for 183 + straps. I love the way 183 curve and its crown but mine one is not so good. (Actually very poor. I was fooled by local dealer.) Edited May 21, 2008 by yim156
OmegaPOFL Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 welll....if you're willing to now spend up to 600.. then you should even consider a Little Hero Pam. IMO, i would go for a Radomir 183 then mod it by VAC or The Zigmeister. If you werent intend on buying a Pam, i would have told you to get a Deep Sea (rolex) and/or an Omega UPO. goodluck!!

BigCrown Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 I have tried just about all of them. I would go for a top quality PAM 111 with Swiss movement (hand wind only --- I would stay away from the replicated automatics at first). I would expect to spend around $350 for the watch with rep strap. I would enjoy it in the strap in comes with...and then later buy an OEM strap and still use the rep buckle. My 2 cents!
Samurai Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 Add in a bit more and get DSN's fiddy with Swiss E movement for $460.
hooky Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 Not all about the classics like the pam111 or pam183 or the Fiddy. How about the PAM252, newest version? Pretty accurate. And with a good AR coating. Spend the rest on a good strap, for instance one from Gunny Straps. You will stay within your budget and it looks KILLER! In terms of dealers, Trustytime/Andrew is a good dealer.
cca7083 Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 I'd get a DSN 089Ti and a gator strap to go with it.
hooky Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 I'd get a DSN 089Ti and a gator strap to go with it. also a very good choice, great model. And DSN has great lume (relumed so a lot better than standard replume) I guess DSN asks around 430usd.
mdw4 Posted May 17, 2009 Report Posted May 17, 2009 sorry for the newb question, but where can you find quality 111 for $250-250? what about a 112? Cheers, M For 200$ to 250$ you
Alan_Schezar Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 Wow. The options are almost endless. Give us some help with a price range/limit, material desired, etc. A "good" leather strap source might not be a source for "good" gator straps, etc. Price is probably the easiest place to start. I'm also looking for a "good" strap... I've been having trouble finding one because I'm looking for a Deployant Strap, not a Buckle Strap. Can you recommend any or any sites in the ~$50 price range? Thanks,
hooky Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 imo the Panerai deployments/folding claps are not that comfortable, compared to the deployments of IWC, Omega, Hublot and Breitling to name a few. You gotta feel it to know it...
bluerex Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 177H - nice Ti case with workhorse 6497 movt. You can pick one up for $200. Spend the rest on AR, Lume and a nice strap. or a Fiddy from DSN - $460.

OmegaPOFL Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 people who are looking for straps... there's this new guy selling straps... the black label looks amazing... the price is good too... http://hamiltonleatherwatchstraps.blogspot...p;max-results=6
