UPO's What's the difference?

What's the difference between UPO's from dealers like Andrew or Josh, and Silix's?

I have had both over the last few months and sold on. I now just have a Black/Black UPO that Ruby sourced for me, but I have a Black/Orange one from Silix on the way, purely to fit the good new PO rubber strap that I have.

I've seen posts saying "UPO wanted but not the Silix version" Why is this?

It has been discussed in this forum previously.

1 - Silix offers the correct Omega emblem on the dial (dial makers, 3-6-9), but the details differs from that of say Andrew/Josh, etc.

2 - Silix offers a 2836 movement, where others offer a 2824 movement.

3 - Date font differs between the two

4 - Pearl not as good on Silix (except on the Casino Royale version) compared to others.

Hope this helps.

That does help to some extent. But help me with this if you can

I was intending to send this to k2222 for double AR/date wheel swap [my other UPO is with him now] so then I would be stuck with the 2836 movement..Since this is on a closed caseback, that's not too much of a biggie. What would be a biggie is if the second hand didn't sweep as well as my UPO [which sweeps as smooth as silk]

What do you reckon the negatives would be AFTER the k222 treatment?

and

Is it worth my paying k2222 to mod this or should I just move it on?

thanks in advance

Defitnely get the crystal double A/R. Got mine done from Chief and came out awesome.

As for the second hand sweep. is there really a difference between how the second hand sweeps between 2824 and 2836? Not too sure.

No difference. They're basically the same movement, the 2824 is date only and the 2836 is day/date and they both sweep at 28800bph.

Firstly, its an Asian 2836 copy, not ETA.

Secondly, if you own an UPO, you will immediately recognize the inferior quality of the Silix model when it arrives. Most notably the cheap, sloppy, 90 click bezel. Also, the crown is completely wrong and the He valve is in the wrong place. The lume on the Silix is weak, the pearl is poor, and the 3,6, 9 and 12 on the dial lack serifs. The date font is wrong, and the date wheel is glossy, not matte as it should be.

Other than that its pretty accurate ;)

Here's mine...

Yes you are right about the 90 click bezel and the edge of the case seems a bit 'sharper' to the touch.

The good points however are

The AR is better than the UPO's [from factory]

The rep UPO rubber strap that I bought previously fits like a dream and doesn't 'pop out'

It'll do until my UPO comes bak from k2222 anyway
