Guest carlsbadrolex
I was doing a Google search for "disassembly of eta 2836-2" and the third listing after horology zone and TZ is our very own The ZigmeisterZumba's profile here on RWG. I just thought it was interesting that a search as basically generic as I made would lead me right back here... SO, with that said. Has anyone ever had the screw holding the main spring barrel housing snap off? I just picked up a GMT IIC with the swiss eta 2836 (modified). It is not running. When I opened the case back the first thing I noticed was that the screw was missing. Of course I have spares, so I pulled one out and prepared to put it in... bad news is the old one is snapped off in the arbor. Ive never seen this one before...... Anyone else? And I guess the $5000 question is, where the hell is the head to the screw? I cant see in in the case.
Guest carlsbadrolex
Answered my own questions... After a nice cold Corona I decided to open it back up. Removed the rotor, removed the first plate and what the hell... Right there in the middle of the movement is the head to the screw. It was wedged down inside one of the gears. Pulled it out and swapped the entire mainspring barrel. Put it back together and it sprung to life. After a little over an hour it is accurate to the second using the National Atomic Clock. The repair took all of 30 minutes and that was taking my time. The movement never even came out of the watch. We will see how she continues to run. I still want the autographed picture though! Guest carlsbadrolex
I am amazed at how many watch related Google searches we rate for... We ban people for linking to our site on gen forums, but do nothing about the natural ranking of our site when a generic watch related term is searched for. Maybe we need to ban ourselves or stop posting useful information! Then Google will leave us alone!
ubiquitous
I think I'll ask ZZ to autograph the next movement I send to him for servicing
yellomen
Try doing a search on PAM252 North Pole or PAM186 Arktos... you have to go through 3 pages of replica websites of course including RWG and some of our own dealers before you'll find a link that leads you to a website with a gen PAM252 or PAM186... go figure... @CBR... amazing job and good to hear the GMT-II is running so well again
pizzanooo
In the past couple months I asked for some feedback on a few gens. Later after a goggle search, my thread was listed here on the topic. Made me feel uncomfortable I ever posted it, and knowing I could`nt delete the whole thread. Not that I personally worry, just feel the privacy we need here.

RWG Technical
Makes you wonder how these search engines work, if your not logged onto or a member of this board, how can google pick up the name on the forum... In any case, I think just about any name here would show up in google. @ubi They are all signed after service, only way I can validate if I worked on the watch before... Guest carlsbadrolex
Sure. I understand that if a search is done in Google for a specific user name they WILL be found. My point was that doing such a general NON-REPLICA related search resulted in finding YOUR profile. It was interesting, thats all.

But, I'd like a signature signed with a sharpie. Right on the rotor: 'To Ubi.... Your pal, Ziggyzumba'... I really just want to see if you can fit all that text on the limited surface space

But given his lume work, and the detail in his paintings IM SURE it could be done!
POTR
Hell, when I get ready to start sending mine up for service (and that will probably be sooner rather than later, as the neck and hands are getting worse), I want sketches and signatures engraved on the casebacks...
