freddy333
Does anyone know of a collector or reliable source that sells the old style SS GMT reps (or cases) that measure 39mm x 13mm & do not have crown guards? Preferably with a SS jubilee bracelet.
alligoat
Good old NDT has the 6542 case for $1350! http://ndtradingcorp.com/zen/index.php?mai...products_id=102 Takes a 1030 or 1065 GMT movement. Don't know of anything cheaper- like a Silix no cg case and an asian GMT movt, with a ??? dial

Tribal
Why not buy a Vintage GMT and remove the CG's?
alligoat
Like Tribal says, this Silix 1675 w/ the crappy dial- 28mm to boot, and shave the cg's http://www.silix-prime.com/product.asp?id=1494 If the dial didn't say DATE, it would be halfway decent
tmg
Why not buy a Vintage GMT and remove the CG's? Probably your best bet Freddy.
freddy333
Why not buy a Vintage GMT and remove the CG's? Yes, that is my backup plan. But I am looking for a rep that has the correct case dimensions (39mm x 13mm). All of the vintage GMT reps I have found are 40mm x 12.5mm (or 14.5mm). Any ideas (other than NTTrading/Vietnamese or similarly unrealistically-priced cases)?
alligoat
Next possibility- a Silix no cg sub- 38mm x 12mm http://www.silix-prime.com/images/upfile/rols174-1.jpg But the bezel won't be correct, like the notched bezel on the 6542. And I think these are thin cases w/ 29mm dials, as I recall.

Someone else did a nice GMT using the Silix Sub case, but I think their GMT had the later painted metal insert & I want to do a proper plexi insert. I have a feeling I would have to trim too much off the insert to fit this bezel. But that may be the best option. Thank you.
freddy333
Has anyone ever tried to fit Michael's 6542 bezel/insert combo And his 6542 hands Onto 1 of Josh's vintage GMT (or Silix's CG-free Sub) cases Are you with me here............ With the CGs removed & a 6542 dial & datewheel fitted, it might just work.
tmg
Hi guys, The current version of the Silix Bond Sub (Alligoats link) is a different thicker case, I believe a modern sub case without cg's. You can ask Jay and see if he still has the old stock available. I have a CWP bond sub bezel and it doesn't fit either of the Silix Bond cases, the bezel is much smaller than the case. What I do not know is if his 6542 bezel has different dimensions. NDT sub dial did not fit either case too, the dial was too small. I seem to recall RBJ was able to fit the CWP small GMT hand on an ETA. Haven't had any experience with Joshua's 1675.
