therooster Posted September 25, 2008 Report Share Posted September 25, 2008 I think starting to compile a list of who has what with him is a good starting point (in case we need to escalate this to someone over there who can go and sort things out, or just in case J needs a friendly reminder of who's expecting what). I wonder whether admin here could appoint someone in their team to collect and hold this information. The info to collect might include the member's name and email, what they hold with Jakub, since when, and what jobs were expected. I guess later on members should also be prepared to provide some evidence to that effect, if needed (e.g., email communication with Jakub or postal receipts, etc). This effort should also be coordinated with admin in the other forums. I think it would be a first and important step to have such list ready. As I said, at the simplest level it may just help Jakub start sorting through the pile of watches and parts he must have over there without going through his huge backlog of emails. If he's struggling, there's certainly nothing wrong with giving him a hand. RWG admin and mods: would you agree that starting a list is a good idea? If so, how do you think we should proceed? professor_yaffle1 Posted September 25, 2008 Report Share Posted September 25, 2008 I can't help but agree with all the previous comments, and compiling a list of who has what with J may well be of use, if, and when, he returns to this hobby. I've used J's service since the start, and his initial approach and communication were exemplary, although the work always seemed to take a couple of weeks longer than predicted, and shipments took weeks to arrive, (in one case 5 weeks!), but I was prepared to disregard these minor issues as nuisance and no more, since the quality of the work was so good, particularly the latest AR which is fantastic. However, since the end of July his communication has gone from replies within hours, then days, then, after the first week in August, nothing. Without wanting to become a 'detective' here, it seems that the announcement of a death in the family seemed to be in September, so it's puzzling that so many members suffered communication issues some weeks previously - giving the benefit of the doubt, it's conceivable that the family member suffered from a terminal illness and this contributed to the drop in communication. Like many have said before, the death of a family member is totally devastating, and the attendant emotional journey can, for some, lead to severe depression, and a withdrawal from normal social interaction - if this is the case with J, then I wish him well. My final thought is that it might be of more use to the members if we could find some way to arrange a group buy (of crystals) through one of our dealers? It's a long shot, I know, but if there's enough of us with similar requirements, then it's worth a shot, no? I had to get a complete case set with bracelet to get a VCO crystal, it actually comes with everything except the movement, it cost $130 but I need that watch. If I ever get my crystal back from Jakub I'll build it and sell it and get my monet back though, The Royal Oak came as a case (without caseback) and crystal for $80 I also got a UPO case (with caseback) and crystal for $80 Tried an SSD crystal (sent at no charge) in my older Sea Dweller but its slightly smaller so I still need to find one of those but I'm trying an ebay aftermarket one for a gen Submariner next. So far I'm out of pocket by $200 to Jakub plus another $310 on replacement parts and still have two Rolex and one 42mm PO crystal to find.
