Reshaped SEL's on my new Sub

Tribal

Recommended Posts

that is what i'm talking about... i have always wondered why the factories can't get the rollies sharp and short on the raised portion of the SEL...

interesting since they can create a bracelet that's so sharp that it pretty much slits your wrist! (noobmariner)

EDIT: CAN YOU PLEASE show how you disassemble the SEL?

MUCH THANKS!!!

Thanks Gang ;)

I dissambled the Bracelet with a sort of Razorblade.

Pulled it between the middle and outer Link.

After that it comes off.

I reshaped the SEL with a dremel to right dimensions.

You must shape a lot from the end of the SEL and round it.

Finished it with Sandpaper and satin it.

Tribal - Since most of my interest is in vintage Subs, I am not sure I understand what you are trying to accomplish here?

Are you trying to reduce the size of the 'hump' that sticks out on the sel by removing & reshaping the metal above the springbar hole?

I tried to immitate the shape of gen SEL's

Gen ones are more rounded on the midlink also

I tried to round the midlink on the end of it.

But also the whole midlink is reshaped to become

a more sharp look like Gen.

F333,

The goal (at least for me) was to reproduce the sharp endged center link of the SEL- Most reps come with the center raised too high (the hump that you mentioned) and the outside edges are a bit too rounded.

I basically took a flat file to mine, once disassembled and went across the surface horizontally, up and down the length of the link and then sanded using gradually finer sandpaper, wet sanded, polished and satined the midlink to finish. Reassembled with a mix/match of parts to build a franken bracelet and the result... Nice, crisp edges, reshaped profile, etc. etc.
