FedeROLEX Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 I eventually made up my mind: I will pull the trigger on one GMT IIc with the alleged Swiss ETA inside. I have shortlisted four potential collector: Andrew, Joshua, Angus and Paul. Can any valuable member confirm whether they are supplying the same model (same manufacturer)? Any help appreciated.
rogerthat Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 As far as I know there is only 1 manufacture, regardless of dealer. Use who you trust, especially if buying the more expensive ETA version. All 4 drop ship so you may get the Asian or clone ETA either way you go. My gut on this one would be to go with Josh and pay a little more. If you don't get the ETA movement he is most likely going to work it out with you post sale. Normally I would say Angus, but latly things with his service seem to be iffy with other members. Andrew is basically Joshua though some think with worse service and same prices. Paul - is that WoMart? I persoanlly would stay away from him, haven't heard good things. Other than Paul, who I have never used, I have used the other 3 with no compliants always got what I wanted with good service. Cheers, M
FedeROLEX Posted October 15, 2008 Author Report Posted October 15, 2008 As far as I know there is only 1 manufacture, regardless of dealer. Thank you for the information. Have you looked at Silix's? It looks different (worse)...
im2 Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Yep, the watch you are looking for has only one manufacturer ...
Toadtorrent Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Chris @ Eurotimez generally assures if you pay for Swiss you get Swiss and has descriptions in his area here on RWG that help identify the Asian Swiss clones.
patinga Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 I agree with Toad. Chris @ Eurotimez can get you the watch plus he does the QC himself.
tenacious_b Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 I got 2 from Andrew and both were perfect, but I'll admit, for the little extra that Eurotimez charges, I'd be tempted to say the QC is worth it, though I cannot personally vouch for it, as I have never bought from Eurotimez.
jnkay Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 If you are paying for a genuine ETA movement, go with Chris if he has the GMT-IIC. You will most likely wind up with a clone movement for the premium you paid for a genuine if you order from anyone else. I can verify that!
By-Tor Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 As a moderator I can't officially promote anyone... but as a watch addict I can. Precious Time and Eurotimez would be my choices. No dropshipping. Never received a problematic watch from either of them. And, they're both in UK. I got mine from PT.
FedeROLEX Posted October 16, 2008 Author Report Posted October 16, 2008 Gentlemen, thank you for the instant feedback. I will furtherly enquire Chris and PT to have a larger range of collectors. No dropshipping is paid for but I'd rather avoid spending too much on this rep... Thank you.
Fuzzy Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 I used PT for mine and the thing is nothing short of freakin BEAUTIFUL! I haven't taken it off my wrist since I got it...shower and all. It was my 1st purchase from PT and he sold me for any other new purchases down the line as well! No dropship either... Fuzzy
FedeROLEX Posted October 20, 2008 Author Report Posted October 20, 2008 Andrew and Joshua are now claiming for a full ceramic bezel insert... and increased the price by a further 30USD. Is it a further new version (we've already seen the improvement in the bezel insert font)?
